<br /> Minutes of the regular meeting of August 14th, and the ad j ourned m ee ti ng of
<br /> August 28th, 19:33, were read and approved.
<br /> I lVII'" Wende 11 Paddock, president of the Workers Unemployed Council, appeared
<br /> before the Council to remonstrate against alleged stool pigeon methods at the ,
<br /> ,I headquarters of this organization, and presented a resolution protesting the
<br /> I
<br /> I methods of our Police Department, and particularly demanding the return of a
<br /> 1 confiscated sign. Mr. Paddock was unable to identify the Police Department as
<br /> , connected with any of th.e alleged stool pie;eon methods, and on motion his resolu~-
<br /> ion was tabled. I
<br /> I
<br /> IvL:>. Walter Green, representing the disabled Veterans, called attention to -
<br /> 1 the Co@nunistic group in the City of ED.gene which was inciting the disabled
<br /> Veterans and creating dissatisfaction with present conditions and he asl{ed the aid
<br /> of the 'City in ~getting rid of these persons. The, mattel' was referred to the
<br /> Police Committels. .
<br /> Captain :Rae requested of the Council the right to erect winter barracks,
<br /> similar to army construction, on the property West of the present camp organization
<br /> and the Council granted the request with the understanding that,no additional
<br /> gravel will be :placed on these grounds.
<br /> The followin~ resolution was adopted:
<br /> RESOLUTION
<br /> Resolved that the City of Eugene execute the proposed lease to , the Go vern-
<br /> I
<br /> ,\ ment for a tract of land in the City Park, known as Kiwanis Park, ~or the purpose I
<br /> of the construction of winter barracks for the C.C.C. camp for a term of one year,
<br /> I
<br /> I and the Recorde,r and Hayor be instructed to sign the same in behalf of the C1 ty.

<br /> I A group from the I.O.O.F. Lodge and Rebekahs appeared before the Council,
<br /> and lllessrs. Inman, Pennington, E[Rrsh, and Iilrs. Frasier, Osborne, and hlcKinney
<br /> 'j urged that the Oi ty Council adopt the name of 3hel ton Park for the Park now
<br /> II designated as R.iverview. The matter was referred to the Park :3oard.
<br /> Chair(~n Hen~ershott of the Finance Committee reported the following bilts
<br /> to the Council with recommendation that they be allowed, and motion was made an ~
<br /> I seconded that warrants be drawn for same. The ayes and nays were called, all
<br /> Counc ilme n pre sen t voting aye, nay none, absent none.
