<br />r'" 288 <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />- - - -- - - "-- <br /> <br />~ - - -. <br />. -- - . - - - --- <br /> <br />-:- <br /> <br />Be it further resolved that this Resolution be spread on the minutes <br /> <br />'::;j <br />(t: <br />'1;: <br />c ~'; <br /> <br />of this meeting and a copy thereof be forwarded to Mrs. Jackson. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />. a <br />A motion was made and seconded that the allowance of ~22.50 per month for <br />rental of office quarters of S.E.R.A. be placed on the regular payroll, and that <br />warrant for this amount be drawn and issued to the Southern Oregon Publishing <br />Company each month at the time regular salaries are drawn. The ayes and nays were <br />called, and Councilmen voting aye 7, Nay none, absent Harris. <br /> <br />1~. Her~an Knutsen submitted an offer to the City to pay the principal <br />assessment of $73.37 for sewer against a lot on the Northeast corner of 17th and <br />Pearl Streets, 50 x 156.34, if the City would rebate the interest. The matter was <br />referred to the Finance COfnmittee to report ba(l'k to the Council. <br /> <br />On motion duly seconded and carried the City purchased from W. F. Semlow one <br />modernistic piece 4xl2 feet fringed, and four 4t x 7 feet national colors, and <br />two 26T1 x 10' American streamers, for the sum of $20.00. <br /> <br />The following Resolution was read and on motion adopted: <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION <br /> <br />< <br />This matter coming on to be heard before the Common Council of <br /> <br />the City of Eugene, pursuant to notice, on Jume 11, 1934, at 7:30 <br /> <br />. <br />o'clock P. M. of said day, in the office of the City Recorder in the <br />City Hall in the City of Eugene, Lane County, Oregon, and it appearing <br />to the Council that complaints have been made by residents living <br />near the property herein described, and reports have been made by the <br />Chief of Police, the City Attorney, the Chairman of the Health Committee <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />and the Chief of the Fire Department, declaring said buildings dangerous, <br />and the COrnmon Council having personally inspected said buildings and <br />having heard all protests, remonstrances and objections, at this time <br /> <br />makes its finding that the buildings at 1601 Orchard street in Eu@9ne, <br />Oregon, are, and are hereby declared to be, dangerous buildings, under <br />the provisions of Ordinance No. 8292, in this: That the walls and <br /> <br />timbers are leaning and there is danger of them falling on children <br /> <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />II <br />,I <br /> <br />and other persons. That the buildings are filled with rubbish and are <br />unsanitary and a menace to the health of the neighborhood and constitute <br />an attractive nuisance for children to play in; that because of the <br />close proximi ty of the a"handoned buildings to the buildings in the <br />surrounding neighborhood, they constitute a fire hazard. That said <br />buildings constitute a trap for the unwary and are in a bad state of <br /> <br />'.' <br /> <br />unrepair. <br /> <br />The Common Council therefore orders and directs that said buildings <br />be removed and the nuisance abated, and the City Recorder is hereby <br />ordered and directed to give five days notice of the findings of the <br />Council to William Sweet and Timothy Sweeb, the owners of said <br />buildings, requiring them to remove said buildings and abate the nuisance, <br />or to render it safe within twenty five days from the expiration of the <br />five days notice, and if they fail so to do, that the Common Council <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />shall thereupon order said buil~ings removed. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />~ <br />
