<br /> ~t The City Council convened for its first meeting in the ~w Council Chambers
<br /> r....t at the hour of 7:30 o'clock P. M., September 24, 1934. Counc~l was called to
<br /> 1 order by Mayor Large wi th all Councilmen present except Reid, Simon and' Zumwalt.
<br /> I Chairman Lamb of the Street Commdttee reported that they were paving the
<br /> I alley South of the City Hall with asphalt as a permanent improvement.
<br /> Chairman Bond of the Fire and Water Committee reported that the street
<br /> light on the West side of Alder between Broadway and lOth Streets should be moved
<br /> to the East side of the street to afford better lighting of the street. On motion
<br /> it was so ordered.
<br /> II Chairman Hendershott reported for the Finance Committee the purohase of
<br /> II $3,000.00 General Obligation Bridge 4i% Bonds, due October 1, 1936, at 101.95 to .
<br /> I yield 3.50%. Motion was mde, seconded and carried to confirm, the purohase.
<br /> I Statement of bills for the Eugene Public Library for September was placed
<br /> I on file.
<br /> I A petition to the Council from property owners to have a lot at the corner
<br /> II of 18th and ,Universi ty Streets cleared of weeds was laid on the table.

<br /> I: A peti tiO't was presented from the Mado-Land Creamery asking the City to
<br /> ; consider a $25.00~di_~tributor's license fee, with a $10.00 vehicle fee for each
<br /> ,i truok. The Eugene Milk Distributo:r;s Assooiation petitioned the Couneil to reduce
<br /> I: the distributors license fee from i30.00 to $20.00 per truck per year. These
<br /> i petitions were referred to the Health Commdttee.

<br /> i Due notice having been given of the proposed oonsideration of the petition
<br /> I
<br /> I: for vacation of the alleys in the block bounded by 10th and 11th and Charnelton
<br /> ;i and Lincoln Streets, the matter came up for consideration at this time. No one
<br /> II appeared before the Council, and a protest from the .E.\1gene Water Board to the I
<br /> closing of these alleys was read. No further action was taken.

<br /> II The communicatiOn of L. R. Stockman, Consulting Engineer, inviting Eugene
<br /> Officials to vi si t the Bake r City Sewage P.1,.ant while under construction was read.

<br /> Ii The Bond of Wl C. Hohnstein as principal of the Fidelity and Casualty
<br /> II Company of New York, in the sum of $500.00, as garbage hauler for the year commenc-
<br /> j ing October 1, 1934, was presented and on motion seconded and oarried was approved.
<br /> I Reports of the City Attorney, ,Chairman of the Health Commdttee, Chief of
<br /> I Police, and Fire Chief were read, indica ting tha t the building si tua ted at 176
<br /> I Washington Street is a dangerous building and should be condemned, after which
<br /> :1

<br /> WHEREAS, there has been presented to the Common Council of the

<br /> the Chairman of the Health Committee, and the Fire Chief, eaoh and
<br /> all of them denouncing the building on that oertain premises designated
<br /> as 1'16 Washington Street, in Cheshires First Add! tion to .Eugene, as
<br /> a dangerous building ,as defined in Ordinance lio. 8292, and recommended
