<br /> Chairman Zumwalt of the Health,Committee, discussed the proposed change
<br /> in Milk Distributors license fee, and requested tha matter be held over for
<br />I further consideration.

<br /> Councilman Harris, of the Park Committee, recommended the purchase of :~
<br /> $7.96 of Lumber, and gravel in the amount of' $6.40, for park improvement work. .:;..,.

<br /> Chairman Simon of the Police Committee presented to the Mayor for
<br /> consideration the name of Steve Hanns.as a patrolman, and motion was made, second-
<br /> ed and carried that Mr. Hanns be placed on the regular payroll of the City commen-
<br /> cing as of October 1st, ~t a salary of $101.25 to be paid at the same time other
<br /> salaries are drawn. The ayes and nays were called, Councilmen voting aye 7, nay
<br /> none, absent Reid.
<br /> A protest of neighboring property owners on permitting the Walters
<br /> Bushong people to construct a saw mill, planing mill, or wood working plant in the
<br /> plock between Pearl and High Streets and 4th and the Southern Pacific tracks was
<br />.' presented. An opportunity was given the property owne~s to speak, and some of
<br /> them addressed the Oouncil. I twas sta ted that no permi t haabeen applied for and
<br /> nothing could be done at this time. However, the me. tter was refe rred to the
<br /> Judiciary Committee.
<br /> A communication from the Treasurer asking for instruction as to the
<br /> disposi tion of Home Owners' Loan Bond s held by him in payment of city liens was
<br /> presented, and motion made, seconded and carried directing him to hold these
<br /> bonds in the Improvement Bond Sinking Fund.
<br /> Reports of the Police Department, Fire Chief, City Engineer and Police
<br /> Matron were read and filed.
<br /> This being the time for the hearing of protests, remonst~nces, and
<br /> objections against the proposed condemnation of the building at 176 Washington
<br /> Street, and due notice having been given, the matter came on for hearing at this
<br /> ti me . O'bJections were called for and none heard, whereupon the following
<br /> Resolution was read and on motion adopted. ,
<br />-I RESOLUTION
<br /> This ma1;ter coming on to be heard before the Common
<br /> Council of the City of ~ugene pursuant to notice on the 8th
<br /> day of October, 1934, at 7:30 o'clock P.M. of said day, in
<br /> the office of the City Recorder in the City of ~Ugene in
<br /> the City Hall in said city in Lane County, Oregon, and it
<br /> appearing to the Council that complaints have been made by
<br /> residents living near the property herein described, and
<br /> reports have, been made by the City Attorney, the Chairman
<br />:. of the Health Committee, the Chief of Police, and the Fire
<br /> Chief, declaring said buildings to be dangerous buildings,
<br /> in fact, ~d dangerous buildings under the provisions of
<br /> Ordinance No. 8292 of the City of Eugene.
<br /> The Council thereupon proceeded to a hearing and
<br /> examined various persons upon behalf of the city, including
<br /> various city officers and members of the Council who had
<br />I inspected the buildings, and the Co~cil thereupon asked
<br /> that any protest or objection be made at that time, but that
<br /> no one appeared and made remonstrances, protests or obJections,
<br /> and the Council, being fully advised .in the premtse~, at this
<br /> time makes its findings as follows:
<br /> Fi r s t : That the said 'buildings be and they are hereby
<br />.
