<br />Chairman Hendershott presented a bill in the amount of $109.34 for repai rs
<br />on the Library building, to be paid out of an extra $500.00 included in the 1934
<br />levy for 1935 expenses, and moved that this bill be allowed. Motion was seconded
<br />and the ayes and nays called, Councilmen voting aye 8, nay none, absent none.
<br />
<br />Six petitions were read concerning creating 11th Avenue West a through Street.
<br />It was moved, seconded and carried that they be referred t,o the Police and street
<br />Committees.
<br />
<br />A petition by the Eugene Realty Board, asking for a widening of 11th Avenue
<br />East to not less than 80 feet, was presented. Two petitions were presented by
<br />property owners asking the Council to show no encouragement in the ma tte r of
<br />widening East 11th. The matter was laid on the table.
<br />
<br />A petition from a group of merchants asking the City Council to install
<br />Ii lights on West Park Street was referred to the Fire and Water Committee.

<br />A petition was read from a group of business men and customers asking that
<br />Park Street from Oak Street to the first alley East be inade a one hour parking
<br />zone. This was referred to the Police and Street Committees.

<br />A letter was read from John J. Scrivner asking that the accumulated interest
<br />be waived upon payment of the principal amount of liens on property at 1873 East
<br />15th, due to failure to be notified that there was such a debt against the
<br />property. This matter was referred to the JUdiciary Committee.
<br />
<br />A letter was- read from Mr. Stanley asking that if he pay the total assessment
<br />against Lot 6, Block 21, College Hill Addition, if the accumulated interest due
<br />thereon could be waived. This matter was also referred' to the Judiciary Committee.

<br />An Ordinance' levying assessments for the dismantling of certain dangerous
<br />bUildings on Lot 4 and the South 10 feet of Lot 1, Block 3, of Skinner's Donaticn
<br />to Lane County, an addition to Eugene, Oregon, was read the third time and placed
<br />It I upon its final passage. The ayes and nays were ca lled, Councilmen vo ting aye 8,
<br />nay, none, absent none. The- Ordinance was declared passed and numbered 8401.

<br />Eight contracts to supply gasoline to the Ci ty were read, and it was moved'
<br />and seconded and carried that the Union Oil Company and the General Patroleum
<br />Oil Company contracts be accepted at a bid of 14~ top, which were the lowest bids
<br />presented.

<br />Bonds of Fred Wentworth, Ci ty Treasurer,
<br />and $50,000.00 with Kirchoff Agency, and Bond
<br />i,l. wi th George McLean Agency, were presen ted and

<br />The Police Committee asked for a check upon the issuance of a taxi license

<br />The application of Mrs. Lela M. Davis for a Rooming House pennit at 70 East
<br />Broadway, approved by Chief Bergman, was on motion,granted.

<br />A letter from the Sanborn Map Company was read answering an inquiry from the
<br />City Engineer for a price on the map, which was given as $110.00. This is
<br />provided for in the budget, and on motion, seconded and carried the Recorder is
<br />authorized to give Mr. Clubb a requisition for same.
<br />
<br />The question as to the granting of a 1935 taxicab license to Delmer Dietzman
<br />was referred to the Police Committee.
<br />
<br />A letter was read from the City Attorney concerning a zone ordinance whioh
<br />had been proposed by the City Planning Commission, and after a discussion of the
<br />work being done in a survey by the City Engineer's Office, the matter was referred
<br />back'to the Planning Commission.
<br />
<br />The request of Jack A. Cleaves for the refund of $1.00 Taxi priver's license
<br />fee, was rejected by the Council.
<br />
<br />A letter was read from the City Attorney asking the Council to ratify the
<br />transfer on the Treasurer's Books of a sufficient amount from the Improvement
<br />Bond Sinking Fund to the Improvement Bond Interest Fund, to pay the interest on
<br />the warrants which are about tobe paid with the $78,650.00 bond issue. On motLan
<br />seconded and carried it was so ordered.
