<br />II cent, in the principal sum of $153,023.69, and maturing October 15, 1936; and
<br /> directing that said bonds be called for redemption, and declaring an emergency,
<br />Ii was read the first time and passed its second and third readings by title under
<br />II
<br />II suspension of the rule by the unanimous consent of the Council and was placed
<br />I' upon its final passage. The ayes and nays were called, Councilmen voting aye 8,
<br />II nay none, absent none. The Ordinance was declared passed and numbered 8443.
<br /> Mr. Gordon Wells prayed the Council for an extension of two weeks on his
<br />I request for cancellation of interest on assessments on property owned by Harry
<br />i Gordon, and which subject had been referred to the Finance Committee, City
<br />II Engineer, and City Attorney. This time was granted. .
<br /> Councilman Zumwalt presented the Soults property park project, and the City
<br />I Recorder set forth the conditions to date, and Mr. Soults addressed the Council,
<br />I pointing out that all he wanted was the amount he owed a mortgage company on the
<br />I property. 6f course, meaning that the City would have to assume all taees and
<br /> I assessments. This was referred to the Finance Committee to report back au the
<br /> I next Council meeting.

<br />11 City Engineer Clubb presented a request from the Bohemian Club Cafe for
<br />I permission to erect an electric sign advertising Bohemian Club. On motion
<br />I seconded and carried this request was not grantea.

<br />I City Engineer Clubb stated that they had spent considerable time preparing
<br />I
<br />I maps for the City of Eugene, and the value of the same would amount to at least
<br />I $2500.00 and that he desires sets of ro~lers in order to save wear and tear on
<br />I
<br />I the maps. He reported he could get the rollers for approximately $60.00. Motion
<br />I was made and seconded to refer this back to the City Engineer with power to act,
<br />I and the ayes and nays were called, Councilmen voting aye 8, nay none, absent none. I

<br />il Mayor Large reported that Mr. Chamberlain and Mr. Martin has asked the City
<br />II to sponsor a proposed flax plant here. The City Attorney pointed out that no
<br />II action was needed now, but when they were ready to file their papers for this
<br />I'
<br />,i project, then would be the time for the Council to act.

<br /> The Mayor presented the question of the feasibility of the City entering
<br /> upon a foreclosure program. Councilman Hendershott pointed out that it might
<br /> be well to wait until next Spring, but Councilman Lamb moved that a foreclosure
<br /> program be entered upon immediately. The Motion was seconded and carried.
<br /> Councilman Carlson voting nay.
<br /> Councilman Bond asked that the sign ordinance be enforced, pointing out
<br /> that the Sigwart Sign has not been property lighted. It was ordered that this
<br /> be enforced.
<br /> The Street Committee, by Chairman Lamb, brought up the subject of the
<br /> purchase of the Daniels property for a city barn. Councilman Bond reported that
<br /> the Bank refused to take less than $10,000.00 for it, but if the City wanted I
<br /> just the building and would leave interest in the party wall on the East then
<br /> they would sell the property fer $800.00. After considerable discussion this
<br /> proposal was left with the Committee for another two weeks.
<br /> Councilman Reid suggested that another drive be started on cars and trucks
<br /> without mufflers, and the Chief of Police was ordered to check up on illegal
<br /> noise by motor traffic.
<br /> Councilman Simon reported a numb.er of complaints on cars blocklng the
<br /> sidewalk at the Drive-in Market, and upon motion, seconded and carried the Chief
<br />I of Police was ordered to notify that Market that unless the sidewalk was kept
<br />11 ~.
