<br /> Minutes of the adjourned meeting of the Common Council held at the hour of .~
<br /> 7:30 o'clock P. M. September 26, 1935. Council was called to order by Councilman
<br /> Lamb, President of the Counc1i:l, in the absence of Mayor Large, and all Councilmen
<br /> were present except Zumwalt and Carlson.
<br /> A delegation from the Washington Parent Teacher's Association addressed the
<br /> Council on the subject of providing a safety lane crossing at 7th and Willamette
<br /> Streets. This was referred to the Police Committee for action.
<br /> Sealed bid for the sale of $130,500.00 Refunding Improvement Bonds "H", from
<br /> Camp & Co., Inc. , Hemphill, Fenton & Campbell, Inc., Conrad, Bruce & Co.,
<br /> Atkinson, Jones & Co., E. M. Adams & Company, Ferris & Hardgrove, and Blyth &
<br /> Co., Inc. was opened and read, and the Finance Committee retired to consider said
<br /> .. bid. They returned with the recommendation that the bid be accepted. Motion was
<br /> made and seconded to accept the Finance Committee's recommendation, and the ayes
<br /> and nays were called, Councilmen voting aye 6, nay none, absent Zumwalt and
<br /> Carlson. The bid referred to being set out in full as follows:

<br /> in denominations of $1,000 each except one bond for $500, both principal and semi-
<br /> annual interest payable at the office of the City Treasurer at Eugene, Oregon we
<br /> will pay you at the rate of $96.50 for each $100 in bonds and, in addition thereto
<br /> accrued interest to date of delivery of said bonds to us.-
<br /> We attach hereto our certified check for $2,610, same to be held by you and
<br /> applied as part payment on the bonds if awarded to us; otherwise, to be returned
<br /> upon demand.
<br /> . It is agreed and understood that, before taking up and paying for any of said
<br /> bonds, you are to furnish us with the final approving opinion 'of Messrs. Teal,
<br /> Winfree, McCulloch, Shuler & Kelley, of Portland, Oregon, certifying as to the
<br /> legality of the above described bonds; and, if for any reason the same is not
<br /> forthcoming, the attached check is to be feturned to us immediately.

<br /> An Ordinance accepting the bid of Camp & Co., Inc., Hemphill, Fenton, &
<br /> Campbell, Inc., Conrad, ,Bruce & Co., Atkinson, Jones & Co., E. M. Adams & Company,
<br /> Ferris & Hardgrove, and Blyth & Co., Inc. for the purchase of Refunding Improve-
<br /> ment Bonds "W', of the City of Eugene, in the sum of $130,500.00, and fixing the
<br /> , rate of interest on said bonds, was read the first time and passed its second and
<br /> third readings by title under suspension of the rule by the unanimous consent of
<br /> the Council, and was placed upon itg final passage. The ayes and nays were called
<br /> . Councilmen voting aye 6, nay none, absent Zumwalt and Carlson. The Ordinance was
<br /> declared passed and numbered 8445.
