Jamison <br /> :.;'~""'l for a permit to erect a canopy at 1211 Alder Street extending from the building I <br /> ;~~:' to the curb 1 ine, be not granted; and that the request of the General Grocery Co. <br /> <..,~ to erect a garage 20' x 40 t at the rear of their property at 449 Charnel ton street, <br /> ~ pe granted, providing they would use the post and girder type of frame work. <br /> ~ Th Upon motion duly seconded and carried the recommendations were accepted by the <br /> Council. <br /> Reports for the months of July and August from the Police Matron, and report <br /> for the month of August from the Library were read and ordered filed. <br /> A petition for street lights at 24th and Alder and 25th and Kincaid Streets <br /> was read and referred to the Fire and Water Committee. <br /> An Ordinance granting to the Northwest Cities Gas Company, its successors <br /> and assigns, a Franchise for the construction and operation of a gas manufacturing <br /> plant and/or a gas distribution system in the City of Eugene for a term of thirty <br /> years was read the first time and the Recorder instructed to communicate and get ;.' <br /> authority from the Northwest Cities Gas Company to advertise their proposed <br /> I franchise. <br /> The following applications to rebond delinquent assessments were presented <br /> and on motion duly seconded and carried were accepted: <br /> No. Name Amount <br /> 345 Laman & Marie B. Sayles 88.51 <br /> Reports from the Chief of Police, Chairman of the Health Committee, and City <br /> Attorney on the condemnation of the building at 245 Madison Street, were read and <br /> the following Resolution was read and motion made, seconded and carried to adopt <br /> same. <br /> - RESOLUTION <br /> WHEREAS, there has been presented to the Common Council of the City of Eugene, <br /> reports from the City Attorney, the Chief of Police and the Chairman of the Health <br /> Committee, each and all of them denouncing the building on that certain premises <br /> designated as 245 Madison Street, in Mayhew's Addition to Eugene, Oregon, as a . <br /> I dangerous building as defined in Ordinance No. 8292, and recommending to the <br /> I <br /> Common Council that said building be dismantled, and <br /> I WHEREAS, complai.nts have been made regarding said building, 'by a large number <br /> or residents living around and in t he neighborhood, claiming th~t the premises are <br /> frequented by disreputable characters, and is a breeding place for disease, thus <br /> endangering the health of the neighborhood <br /> THEREFORE, - <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL of the City of Eugene that a public I <br /> - <br /> I hearing is hereby called to be held in the Council Chambers in the City Hall in <br /> II <br /> the City of Eugene at 7:30 o'clock P.M. on Monday, October 14, 1935, at which <br /> time and place all persons interested will be heard upon the question as to <br /> whether or not the said building located at 245 Madison Street, Eugene, Oregon, is <br /> dangerous under the provisions of Ordinance No. 8292, and as a part of said hearing . <br /> I <br /> ~j, <br />
