Wentworth, Treas. 468.52
The Fire and Water Committee, by Chairman Bond, recommended the install-
ation of a street light at 25th and Kincaid, and that the request for the light
at 24th and Alder be depied. Motion was made, seconded and carried to accept his
recommendation.
Councilman Bond reported that there was a fire hazard existing in the fire
hall itself due to the fact that a woad stove was being used to warm the motors.
Councilman Hendershott felt that the Fire and ~ater Committee should be empowered
to put that department in shape. Councilman Bond pointed out that there was an
electric attachment that could be used to keep the motors w&rm, and they would
investigate the same and report back at the next Council meeting.
The Police Committee, by Chairman Simon, presented a group of wine and
beer applications that had previously been rejected, and recommended that they be :.
not approved. Motion was made, seconded and carried that his recommendation be
accepted.
Councilman Simon, pointed out that after the first of the year the Police
I Committee would check into all of these applications very thoroughly. Mr. DeBurgh
addressed the Council stating that his application for a wine license had been in
II for several months and he would like to have it investigated immediately so he
I' could get his license if possible. Mr. H. B. Yount pointed out that two others
places were allowed to serve wine with meals and that it was very unfair competit-
I ion and he felt he should have his application approved.
I
I Councilman Simon presented the application of The Combination for a retail
I beer license. This application is merely a change of one of the partners, and it
was moved, seconded and carried that this be approved.
I
I A wine package store application from Mr. Le eM. Travis of 73 West Broadway,
I 1-
was presented, and upon motion of the Police Committee, 'seconded and carried this
I application was not approved.
--
A letter from the Zoning Board of Appeals was read, in which they recommend-
ed that the requist df the Schulz Motor Co. for permission to move a wooden build-
ing to the rear of their lot at the corner of 8th and Pearl Street, to ~ used as a
used car office and storage room, be granted, providing they would cover the out-
side of the building with stucco and place it upon a continuous concrete foundation
Upon motion duly seconded and carried this recommendation was accepted by the
Council.
- .
~
