The ayes and nays were called, Councilmen <br />, voting aye 8, nay none, absent none. The Ordinance was declared passed and <br />::?Jl numbered 8462. <br /> <br />-"':..1'./fI'\ <br />\'ll; A communication from the County Court granting the City of Eugene the <br />privilege "oft"llcensing dogs, was presented and after considerable discussion it <br />was detepmined that this should be held for further consideration. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Councilman Hendershott moved that the City Recorder be instructed to write a <br />letter td the Ohief of Police of the City of Sacramento, C~lifornia thanking him <br />for the many courtesies extended to Councilman S. C. Bond on his visit to that <br />City. Motion was seconded and carried. <br /> <br />Councilman Zumwalt moved that the City Recorder be instnucted to advertise <br />for bids fOF the management of the municipal dumping ground. Motion was seconded <br />and carried. <br /> <br />Councilman Bond reported that Mr. Fred Portep 'of'I320 West 6th had receipts <br />from the City Treasurer marked "paid in full" on assessments, and now it developes <br />that thene unpaid assessments on his property. He is perfectly willing to pay <br />the principal, but thinks that In view of the fact tpat he was here and ready to <br />pay his account in full, he should not have to pay'the"'interest. The City Attorney <br />pointed out that the City Treasurer or the Common Council h~d no power to relieve <br />any individual of the payment ther~of. <br /> <br />The f'ollowing appointments of Committees, Boards, Commissions, and Examiners, <br />were made by Mayor Large.
