G. White, requesting application for beer license for the <br /> Eagle's Lodge was referred to the Police Committee for further consideration. <br /> A,letter from S. J. Bakerr offering a bid of $708.65 for lots 7 and 8 in Block <br />'. 171 11, Hendrick's Addition was rejected by the council. <br /> Four Rebonding Applications were presented and the same were ordered accepted:- <br /> I No. Name Amount <br /> , <br /> I 442 W. Vaughan 166.36 <br /> The Recorder reported receiving a letter from Lane County .Clerk, W. B. Dillard, <br /> 18 stating that they had received offers on Lot 17, Block 5, Blair Street Addition; <br /> North 100 feet of Lot 1, Block 5, Croner's Addition; Lot 59, Foster's Addition; and <br /> certain property at the Northwest corner of the intersection of 11th and Almaden -.. <br /> Streets~ described in metes and bounds. The matter was -referred to the Finance, <br /> City Attorney and City hngineer with power to act. <br />I The bids for floor covering that had been advertised were opened and as there <br /> I Was only one sealed bid this being from Rubenstein"s Furniture Co., and one open '" <br /> 19 bid from Twin Oaks Builders Supply 00, these bids were considered by the council an <br /> ordered rejected.and the Engineer was ordered to have the floor of the council cham <br /> bers sanded and finished with varnish or paint. <br /> At this time the Planning Commission reported favorably on the change of the ~ <br /> zoning at the four corners of intersection at 11th and Mill Streets so as to allow " <br /> this property to be used for commercial purposes. This recommendation was adopt ed <br /> 20 by the council and the city attorney was directed to draw the property ordinance <br /> for this and report to the next council meeting. <br /> A request from George York that he be allowed to build a garage at the NE corne <br /> of 20th and Onyx Streets within 4~ feet of the lot line was read. The Building Cod <br /> 21 requires that the garage be back 16 feet from the lot line. This request was re- ..... <br /> I ferred to t~e Board of Appeals to report at the next council meeting. <br /> , On motion by Mr. Bond the Recorder was instructed to collect rent for the house <br />. 22 on city owned property and also for a woodyard being maintained on one of the lots. -.. <br /> Councilman Lamb spoke regarding the condition of the parking and sidewalk space <br /> at the Foundry on 8th and Ferry Streets. He stated that various materials such as <br /> 23 wood, iron and boiler parts were kept there continuously and after some discussion --.. <br /> the Chief of Police was instructed to see that this place was cleaned at once and s <br /> kept. <br /> An Ordinance requiring spark arresters and smoke consuming devices upon com- <br /> 24 mercial smoke stacks in the City of Eugene was read the first time and laid over. <br /> A resolution was passed authorizing the signing of a lease between Ben F. Dorri <br /> 25 and the City of Eu~ene for equipment stored in the city's warehouse at 5th and Oliv - <br /> Streets. <br /> RES 0 L U.T ION <br /> r <br />I WHEREAS, at the time the City of Eugene purchased the present City Barn <br /> and Warehouse property on Olive Street, there was stored in said build- <br /> ing certain pool tables and equipment which it is claimed was owned by <br /> Ben Dorris, and <br /> WHEREA S , it was agreed at the time that $8.00 per'month should be the <br />..' rental which the city should receive for storage space, and it is now <br /> ~ <br />
