<br /> consideration of Arthur B. Brown and LenoreW. Brown deeding certain ~
<br /> property to the City of Eugene, absolutely and unqualifiedly, and in ..

<br /> consideration of the payment to the City of ~ugene by the said
<br /> Arthur B. Brown and Lenore W. Brown of the sum of $1.00, the City of
<br /> Eugene hereby directs the City Recorder and Mayor to enter into an
<br /> agreement of lease and option with the said Arthur B. Brown and Lenore
<br /> W. Brown with regard to:
<br /> Lot 15, Block 4, Fairmount Addition to
<br /> Eugene, Lane County, Oregon
<br /> - granting them a lease on said premises and an option to purchase the
<br /> same, until tugust 22, 1937, at the price set out in the contract of
<br /> option, together with interest thereon from August 22, 1936, until
<br /> . said option is exercised, and in case said option is not exercised
<br /> before August 22, 1937, said option shall terminate and all rights
<br /> of said Arthur B. Brown and Lenore W. Brown shall be lost.
<br /> John L. Marsh and Jessie L. Marsh having tendered to the city a deed for the '--
<br /> II; following described real estate (see resolution), thereupon the following resolutio
<br /> was unanimously adopted by the common council, to-wit:

<br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Eugene that in
<br /> consideration of John L. Marsh and Jessie L. Marsh deeding certain
<br /> property to the City of bugene, absolutely and unqualifiedly, and
<br /> in consideration of the payment to the City of ~ugene by the said
<br /> John L. Marsh and Jessie L. Marsh of the sum of $1.00, the City of

<br /> Chairman Bond of the Police Committee reported that the request of Charles
<br /> Powers of the Blue Moon Cafe, located at 6th and Willamette streets, had been set- ---
<br /> 34 tIed. The city is to provide yellow strips on Sixth street as a restricted parking
<br /> zone for busses. The report of the Police Committee was adopted.
<br /> Communication from Mr. Peter M. Sullivan, executive secretary of Lane County
<br /> . Relief Committee, written in behalf of Pietro La Calsi, 171 Lawrence ~treet, against
<br /> whom notice of lien foreclosure had been issued to satisfy paving assessments
<br /> against the property, was read. Inasmuch as Mr. LaCalsi, has no money to meet even -
<br /> the interest on the amount due, the Relief Office is recommending that his present
<br /> 35 'Old Age Assistance grant be increased to provide a ten-dollar monthly rental budget
<br /> which could be used to make monthly payments to the City Treasurer's Office on the
<br /> interest and prinCipal of the lien. Upon motion made and seconded the plan was
<br /> approved by the council.
<br /> I Mayor Large presented communication from Dr~ Boyer of the University of Orego
<br /> requesting closing of 13th Avenue between Alder and university Qtreets. Mayor
<br /> Large stated that the matter was in the hands of the street and Police Committees
<br /> 36 and that plans were being worked out to have a special policeman on duty to work in ""---
<br /> conjunction wi th the campus offi eel' and to re-route' all trucks off 'rhirteenth
<br /> Avenue. Dr. James D. Barnett stated that anything that could be done to eliminate
<br /> I the noisy conditions would be appreciated by the professors and students. The
<br /> entire matter was referred to the Police and street Committees with power to act.
<br /> Mayor Large appointed the following to constitute the Budget Committee: ...............
<br /> C. A. Horton, George H. McMorran, Victor P. Morris, Frank Nombalais, John Patterson,
<br /> 37 James A. Rodman, Clarence Simon and M.att Wilhelm. Upon motion made and seconded,
<br /> the appointments were confirmed by the council.
<br /> At this time City Engineer asked the council to deed back to the owners of
<br /> property located on 19th between Patterson and Hilyard certain strips of land that
<br /> they had deeded to the city in order to provide for a wider street, but since the
