J. Hanns, chairman of the Fire and Water Committee, was granted <br />permission to expend an additional $40 or $50 from the city hall building fund for <br />paint and calcimine for completion of re-construction work in the fire department <br />kitchen. <br /> <br />Councilman Bond, chairman of the Police Committee, recommended. that the fol- <br />lowing dealers be permitted tb obtain Package store Class "A" Licenses: O. H. Bray <br />& Son and L. L. Leavitt Grocery. Package store Class "B" Licenses were granted to <br />T. W. Harris lTed's) and a transfer of an original application for retail beer <br />license from John C. Johnke to ~arl A. Simmons lJack's Cafe). It was moved and <br />seconded that the recommendations be approved-and it was so ordered. Package "BrI <br />licenses being held for consideration are: J. A. Seely, Doc's Buffet; Ralph & <br />Stanley #3, Rich's Cigar Store; Chas. S. Pratt, Cosmo; P. ~. Bucknum, percy!s Place; <br />and Package store class "A" License, Earl A. Simmons, Jack's Cafe. <br /> <br />Councilman Hendershott reported that west 5th street was in a deplorable con- <br />dition. Councilman Carlson and Bond both agreed that some action must be taken <br />immediately for its repair. City Attorney S. M. Calkins was asked to communicate <br />with the Oregon-Electric Company. <br /> <br />The council sustained the action of the Board of Appeals in recommending that <br />a special permit be granted to Franklin Auto Parts Co., for the erection of a parts <br />shed on their premises at 1873 Franklin Boulevard provided the structure be placed <br />21 on that portion of their property which is within the limited business district. <br /> <br />The request of Frank Cothrell for a permit to erect a workshop on the rear of <br />his lot located at 1126 Taylor Street which is in a single family residence distric <br />22 was denied by the Board of Appeals and the council sustained this action. <br /> <br />Request from R. S. Wynd for permit to erect a greenhouse at 371 10th Avenue <br />~est, being an apartment house district, was denied by the Planning Commission and <br />23 ordered filed by the council. <br /> <br />Request of J. O. Olsen Mfg. Company to erect a store building at the northeast <br />corner of 7th and Lincoln was denied oy 'Cne Planning Commission and ordered filed <br />by the council. ' <br /> <br />25 <br /> <br />Eugene Sand and Gravel request for permit to erect and extend the wrecking <br />house and yard at Franklin Boulevard and Villard Street, northerly almost to <br />Garden Avenue was denied by the Planning Commlss'ion and ordered filed by the counci . <br /> <br />Letter from B. S. Shelley, 417 Miner Building, requesting cancellation of all <br />city liens against property described as Lot 4, Bk 3, Walnut Park Addition was <br />presented and referred to the Judiciary Committee and City Attorney. <br /> <br />Letter from DeWitt W. Dormer increasing his former offer of $400 to $500 for <br />lots 26,27, Block 27, Fairmount Heights Addition, on which property the council <br />had placed a price of $676.40, was referred to the Finance Committee. <br /> <br />28 <br /> <br />Letters from Senators H. C. Wheeler and 'E. A.
