It was moved and seconded that the city consider no offers for sale of <br />this property prior to the budget session and this received unanimous approval of <br />~15 the council. <br /> <br />The Park Committee was asked to contact the proper author1.ties at the <br />University of Oregon to make arrangements for use, of any possible equipment for <br />. -16 playground purposes that 'they have. <br /> <br />The Sewer Committee, at the request of A. A. The <br />20' ordinance was declared passed and numbered 8516. <br /> <br />Councilman Lamb suggested that the bramiHes and grass that had overgrown <br />the trail leading from Pearl Street' over to Skinner Butte Park should be cleared. <br />He also suggested cutting the grass on the east end of the Butte as it was proving <br />-21 to be quite a fire hazard. The matter was left in the hands of the Park Board. <br /> <br />Councilman Farrington expressed sincere appreciation for the exceptionally <br />/22 fine condition of the park roads attended to oy the Street Committee. <br /> <br />" Mr. Page, chairman of the Park Committee, stated that there had been a re- <br />.. quest for a speaker's stand in Skinner,'s Butte Park. Ralph Schomp, manager of the <br />Pageant Association, said that they would be only too glad to donate the lumber <br />for the erection of this stand at the conclusion of the performance. This proposal ) <br />/23 was accepted by the Mayor on behalf of t~e city. <br /> <br />Relative to the re-assessment of Washington Street as requested by Kaufman <br />and Sons, City Attorney Calkins reported the following, after a thorough investi- <br />gation of the situation: "tf the property owners on the West side of Washington <br />Street between 2nd Avenue West and the Southern Pacific Railroad wish to agree <br />on their property lines and file deeds of correction, the City will adjust the <br />assessments accordingly upon a written agreement by the property owners, filed with <br />the city of Eugene.lJcThis report was unanimously approved by the members of the <br />/' 24 counc il. <br /> <br />I Request of the Tidewater Associated Oil Company for permission to construct <br />, a 24-foot driveway on the back half of the service station located at the corner of <br />Broadway and High Streets was presented. In the event the 24-foot request is denied <br />the Company wishes the council's recommendation for a l2-foot driveway. The matter <br />was referred to the Street Committee. Mayor Large's question as to the feasibility <br />of making a running foot charge or frontage charges per year for priVilege of having <br />curb cuts was referred to "the Street Committee also. Engineer Clubb stated that <br />if this request were granted that the Company would allow free pUblic parking: on <br />the proposed premises. Councilman Bond stated that in many instances where curb <br />A cuts had been granted, that the purpose of the cuts were no longer necessary and in <br />;25 J j his estimation said cuts should.be restored.
