SteV,ens, 1,557 Hilyard Street, stated that the office of the <br /> ci ty :engineer had requested a fee of $4.00 for permission to remove and re- <br /> o construct t~e sidewal~ in front of his r~sidence. He ~aid he objected' to <br /> this fee and wanted the council's reaction to the matter. Engineer Clubb <br /> stated that. under the ordinance they were required to charge thi s amount, but, <br /> he, himself, believed the price too much for a repair and reconstruction' jOb- <br /> and suggested a rate of-5~ per running foot. Upon motion made and seconded, <br /> the city engineer's office is permitted to charge 5~ ~er running. foot at all <br /> I. /40 times in the future and this was unanimously approved. <br /> Ralph SChomp, Pageant manager, stated that there would be an outside <br /> decorator and wanted to know, if there was a license fee in ~onnection. with <br /> .AI his work. He was advised that there would be no charge. <br /> Mr. Schomp also raised the question of the return of th~ 10% fee from <br /> airport'operations to the Pageant Asspciation. lt was immediately questioned <br /> ',-A2 and the speaker withdrew his request. <br /> The National, Re-employment Service has requested the Finance Committee <br /> for a cash payment in lieu of the deduction now made for rent inasmuch as' <br /> they are moving from their present city hall quarters to a new location which <br /> is and will be under the jurisdiction of the new state employment set-up.
