<br /> I of 7:30 o'clock P.M., November 22,1937. Mayor Large call'8d the meeting to oraer;
<br /> all councilmen were present. The minutes of the previous meeting were presented
<br /> 1 1 and ordered filed.,'

<br /> i ~ettlement of the Etta Finnerty sidewalk injury claim for $200.00 and damage
<br /> I
<br /> claim Bf Anne Whiteaker to the extent of $100.00, was reported by the Judiciary
<br /> Committee with the recommendation that they be allowed and motion was made, se-
<br /> conded and carried that warrants be drawn. The ayes and nays were called; council I
<br /> / men voting aye: Lamb, Hendershott, Reid, Page, Hanns, Farrington, Bond and Carlso .

<br /> 2 nay, none; absent, none.
<br /> The $100.00 offer of Jack Luckey and Louis C. DeBurgh for property described
<br /> as llBeginning 25' south of the N.W. corner of Lot 5~ Block 19, College Hill Park,
<br /> I ~ running east 50', thence south 40' to the beginning," was rejected by the Finance
<br /> "
<br /> /:: Committee and upon motion made and duly secnnded, the recommendation of the com-
<br /> 3 mittee was duly approved.
<br /> The offer of Olga E. Minick in the amount of $llOO.OOvcash, for Lots 9,10,11
<br /> and 12, B~ock 4, Gross Addition, was denied by the Finance Committee and a counter
<br /> offer of $2500.00 extended. Upon motion made and seconded, -this recommendation we
<br /> 4 unanimously approved. -

<br /> J- The $250.00 offer of Alfred W. Berg for Lot 2, Block 11, Hendrick~s A~~~d~
<br /> Addition, was rejected by the Finance Committee and a counter-offer of ;p500.00 - '-,
<br /> 5 !1 extended. Upon motion made and seconded, this action was approved.
<br /> II Councilman Hendershott reported that Dr. E. L. Gardner, Health Officer, had
<br /> ,( requested a two weeks' vacation commencing December 15, 1937. He stated that ar-
<br /> J rangements had been made whereby Dr. R. C. Romig, Lane County Physician, would
<br /> 6 I handle the necessary work during his absence. Upon motion made ~nd seconded, the
<br /> vacation was granted. .'

<br /> , Mr. Hendershott further reported that on April 26, 1937, permission was
<br /> I
<br /> , given Fred G. Stickles, Title Abstract Company, to purchase a certain certificate
<br /> held by the city against Lot 6, Block 15, College Hill Park at 6% interest in lieu
<br /> of the regular 10% penalty and 10% interest. Mr. Stickles has now tendered a
<br /> check to the City Treasurer and the Finance Committee recommends that the council
<br /> adopt a resolution authorizing the Mayor and Recorder to assign this certificate "
<br /> ./ to the Title Abstract Company and it was so ordered by unanimous consent of the I
<br /> 7- council. * Resolution on page 19 of minutes*
<br /> The Fire and Water Committee, chairman P.J. Hanns rresiding, reported ad-
<br /> si versely on the installation of a street light in the alley bounded by 13th and 14t
<br /> and Alder and Kincaid Streets. Upon motion made and duly seconded, the recommenda ,.to_, '
<br /> tion of the Committee was approved. ;f1 /.

<br /> Councilman Farrington, Chairman of the Health Committee, reported that the ;.-"

<br /> shack locateu on city property across the street from 154 West 20th Street was in ,I'
<br /> 1 a bad condition and should be removed from the premises wtile it is still vacant.
<br /> Upon motion made and seconded, permission was granted the Health Committee for re-
<br /> 9 moval of the shack.
<br /> Mr. Farrington reported that the planks at the apprcach to the city dump
<br /> grounds were worn out from usage and it was necessary that new ones be furnished
<br /> so that trucks could make proper delivery~ He stated that he had undertaken to
<br /> find second-hand planks suitable for this~ but was unable to do so. It was re-
<br /> A vealed that 2000 feet of planking, 3 x 12, would cost $32.00. Upon motion made I
<br /> 101 and duly seconded, it was ordered that purchase of the same be made with payment
<br /> drawn from the emergency fund of the city of Eugene.
<br /> Mr. Farrington also reported that the floor in the living room of the Comfor
<br /> Station located in the Park Blocks was in bad shape and ir. need of linoleum. He
<br /> said he had secured prices from three different places and the best available pric
<br /> is $22.00 for 11 yards to be laid and cemented in place. Motion was made and se-
<br /> ./ conded that this be done with payment made from the Comfort Station funds and it
<br /> 11 was so ordered. I
<br /> Mr. Farrington stated that he and Councilman Carl SOL had been out endeavor in'
<br /> to locate a barn that had been reported in bad condition (,n North Law~ce street~
<br /> but with the information at hand they had been unable to tetermine what property
<br /> ) it was. After some discussion, thi s was referred to the E,ame Commi ttee with the
<br /> understanding that City Engineer Clubb accompany them the next time to help locate
<br /> 12 the property in question.
