<br />Councilman Page, Chairman of the Park Committee, presented a letter from the '
<br />Park Commission requesting an observation survey of all roads leading into homes
<br />from Hendrick's Park. Upon motion duly made and seconded, the city engineer was
<br />requested to make such survey and the Park Commission to make such recommendation

<br />11 Counc ilman Reid, Chairman of the Sewer Commi ttee, requested that the balance
<br />I'I of the fund for cleaning the Amazon be placed in a special fundfor continuation of
<br />1 said operations during the year 1938. City Attorney Calkins was asked for an
<br />II opinion and he stated in case a fund has been set up for a particular thing that
<br />I: it was his opinion that the ,un,expended money can be carr ied over to succeeding
<br />I years for the purpose of completing the work for which th3 money was apprQpriated.

<br />II Relative to the requests made by the Elks' Traffic Safety Camp~ign, Counci1-
<br />! man Bond, Chairman of the Police Committee, recommended th3 installation of a stop
<br />~ sign at Eighth and High, making High a through street; Ilt~ and Polk, installation
<br />I; of sign on the north side of 11 th only. The Commi ttee felt that if the Elks Club
<br />i wan~ed skull and crossbones painted on signs placed at various intersections, that
<br />1'1 they would have to furnish it themselve~; the ~ity is willing to provide for "slow
<br />signs", if necessary. R. T. Burghardt, of the Elks Commi tt 3e addre ssed the counc i 1
<br />15 concerning th~ir program.

<br />Councilman Bond reported that the city of. B.:ugene had an opportunity to rent
<br />the south half of the lot on the east side of the City Maintenance Building for th

<br />Concerning beer and wine applications, Councilman Bond,. Chairman of the Poli e
<br />Commi t tee, stat ed that it was the Comilli ttee 's r.ecommenda t i :)n that renewals be
<br />granted to all dealers having licenses to oper~te for the year 1937 except the
<br />New Deal Bowling Alley, which they wished to hold for further consideration. It
<br />was pointed out that this place was being potronized by minors. The transfer of
<br />a Package Store Class lIBtt License from Beryl Pohll to VI..8. and H.T. Hilton, Drive-
<br />Inn Market was approved. And denied was the P&ckage S~re Class "B" License, ori-
<br />ginal application, sought by the Lone Star Cafe. The Committee asked for two
<br />weeks' additional time to consider the original application of the Oregon Hotel
<br />Coffee Shop for a 5estaurant and potel License. Upon motion made and duly seconde ,
<br />17 the recommendation of the Committee were duly qpproved.

<br />Councilman Bond pointed out that the Police Department had been given strict
<br />ord'ers to enforce to the fullest extent of the)r ability double and overtime
<br />parking violations. Considerable discussion on the general traffic situation was
<br />18 held at this time.

<br />An ordinance amending Ordinance No. 7753 entitled "An ordinance prohibiting
<br />the cutting of curbs in the City of Eugene, Oregonl!, was upon motion made and
<br />]9 seconded ordsred tabled.

<br />requirements of the building code, they had been given perrnisE: ion to suspend their 1
