<br />r'" 4 0 <br /> <br />The amendment. in full. is as follows: <br /> <br />~ <br />~g <br /> <br />AN ACT <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />CHARTER AMEND1ffiNT <br /> <br />To amend the Charter of the City of Eugene by ad.ding a new chapter <br />thereto, authorizing, empowering and directing the Common Council of the City of <br />Eugene, for the purpose of purchasing an athletic field on South Willamette Street <br />\ <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />to be donated to School District Nll1Ilber Four'; to include in its general tax levy <br />for one year such special levy as shall be required in the judgment of the Common <br />Council for the purposes aforesaid, not to exceed one-half mill upon the dollar <br /> <br />valuation of all taxable property in the City of Eugene, said levy to be in addi- <br />tion to and in excess of the constitutional six per cent limitation upon the dity's <br /> <br />tax levy. <br /> <br />THE CITY OF EUGENE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br />BE IT ENACman BY THE ELECTORS OF THE CITY OF EUGENE, OREGON: <br />SECTION 1. The Common Council of the City of Eugene is hereby authori- <br /> <br />zed, empowered and directed for one year, to-wit: for the levy next succeeding the <br />adoption of this Act, to levy in addition to and in excess of the constitutional <br />six per cent limitation upon the City's tax levy, and to ausess and collect taxes <br />not to exceed one-half mill upon the dollar valuation upon all taxable property <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />within the City of Eugene, for the purpose of acquiring seventeen acres on South <br /> <br />Willamette Street as an athletic field to be donated and deeded to School District <br /> <br />Number Four. <br /> <br />Section 2. That the money arising from such levy shall be disbursed <br />by the Common Council by warrants drawn by the Common Coun(~il upon the fund created <br />by this levy, which fund shall be designated as "Athletic Pield Fund", said warrant <br />to be signed by the Mayor and City Recorder. <br />Section 3. That upon the passage of this Act, the City of Eugene shall <br /> <br />cause its Mayor and Recorder to make, execute and deliver to School District No.4 <br /> <br />in Eugene a deed of conveyance of said seventeen acre athlGtic'field to be used by <br /> <br />the School Board as an athletic field. <br /> <br />BALLOT TITLE <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />There is hereby submitted as a proposed ballot title the following: <br /> <br />,~ <br /> <br />"CHARTER AMENDMENT <br />PROPOSED BY RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF <br />THE CITY OF EUGENE, OREGON, AND REFERRED TO THE <br />ELECTORS:" <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />"AUTHORIZING A ONE-HALF MILL LEVY FOR ACQUISITION: OF <br />ATHLETIC FIELD FOR SCHOOL DISTRICT" <br /> <br />Shall the Charter of the City of Eugene be amended <br />authorizing, empowering and directing the Coun(~il <br /> <br />.....
