<br />An ordinance repealing ordinance No. 8523 entitled ilAn ordinance providing for the ap-
<br />pointment of a Committee to have the nanagement and control of a respil'atozy nachine known as an
<br />"iron lung", for emergency use, passed by the Common Council on the 27~n day of September, 1937 and
<br />approved by the Mayor on the 30th day of September, 1937.", was read the first time and passed to
<br />its second and third readings by unanimous consent of the council by title under suspension of the
<br />rules and was placed for final passage. The ayes am nays were calledji councilmen voting aye: Lamb
<br />Hendershott, Reid, Page, Hanns, Farrington, Bond and Carlson; nay, nono; absent, none. The ordi-
<br />nance was declared passed and numbered 8533.

<br />WHEREAS., the City of Eugene has acquired Lot 10, Block 12, Gross
<br />Addition to Eugene, Lane County, Oregon, and

<br />WHEREAS, the City of Eugene has caused the se.m.e to be :a.ppraised
<br />and. determined its value, and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, Robert 'Valden has offered the City $450.00 for said pro-
<br />perty, which, aooording to the appraisement is all that the property
<br />is worth,

<br />Now, Therefore

<br />BE IT RESOLVED By the Conmon Counoil of the City of Eugene that -the
<br />Mayor and Recorder be and they are hereby direoted to enter into the
<br />annexed oontract on behalf of the City of Eugene, and the $100.00
<br />down payment and all subsequent payments shall be depc1si ted with the
<br />City Treasurer of said City.

<br />Shop (Bruoe A. Grieve) to Lee t s Coffee Shop (Lee M. Crouse) had been a.pproved upon endorsement of

<br />Charles Sullivan, Park Tender, reported that the Eugene Water Boord wanted to remove
<br />the pipe leading to and from the reservoir on Skinner's Butte Park. C:olmcilman Page, Chainnan of
<br />the Park Connni ttee, moved that the Water Board be gi van right to remove these pipes at their own
<br />35 expense and it was so ordered.

<br />Councilman Hendershott reported that Mrs. C. E. Misfeldt had seen him and is willing
<br />J6 to trade her property in the park for other property owned by the oi~r.

<br />Conmunication from Rugh Realty Company tendering a check 5m the amount of $523.08 to
<br />oover the assessments on the property foreclosed by the City of Eugeno. belonging to Jay W. Carr,
<br />37 was referred to the Finance Comini t tee.

<br />Councilman Boni, Chaiman of the Police Connnittee, reportl~d that the Police Department
<br />is now using the Police Matron's car and would like to continue its Ufle until the same is needed.
<br />He also stated that the Policeerommittee would like to trade in the tlV'o oldest ca.rs in the Police
<br />Department upon the purohase of om new oa.r, thus leaving the police department wi-th three service
<br />ca.rs, and asked that the City Recorder be requested to call bids. Upl)n motion made and seoonded,
<br />the Police Committee was given full authority to act in the matter and it was so ordered.

<br />At this time Mr. 'M.A. Reed, Manager of Oregon Motor Stages, announoed that as a result
<br />of a hearing with Mr. Townsend and Dr. Peters, who had protested the discontinuance of city bus
<br />service on 19th between Jefferson and South Willwmette. they had agreed to resume service on this
<br />street. With this dispute settled, the council unanimously agreed to comply with the Company's
<br />proposed program of routing.
