<br />An ordinance authorizing and directing the execution of a deed to the
<br />Athletic Field on South Willamette street to ~chool District No.4, Lane County,
<br />Oregon, had its first reading and passed to its second and third readings by title
<br />under suspension of the rule by unanimous consent of the council and was placed
<br />for final passage. The ayes and nays were called, councilmen voting aye: Lamb,
<br />Hendershott, Reid, Page, Hanns, ~arrington and Bond; nay, none; absent, Carlson.
<br />The ordinance was declared passed and numbered 8539.

<br />Resolution authorizing the Mayor and Recorder to execute a lease on behalf
<br />of the Internal Revenue Commission for leasing Room #11 ,in the City Hall building
<br />at an annual r ental of $120.00, was upon motion Gade and duly seconded, adopted.,.
<br />The proposal of increasing the rent, was herewith dropped when City Engineer Clubb
<br />reported that the annual rental rate is based on 23i per square feet or $66.47 for

<br />Councilman Hendershott requested that the Playground Commission be granted
<br />permission to use Room #9 for the Playground offices during the coming season. Upon
<br />34 motion made and seconded, the request was unanimously granted.

<br />Resolution extending to the family of Henry ~eber the'counciI's deepest,
<br />I 3 sympathy, was upon motion made and seconded, duly adopted:

<br />WHEREAS, Henry H. Weber died on May 10, 1938, and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, at the time of his death he was and had been for many
<br />years a trusted and faithful employee of the City of ~ugene,
<br />and was held in high regard and respect by all who knew him,
<br />
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, Be it resolved by the l\1ayor and Gommon Council
<br />of the City of Eugene that while we accept the decree of a
<br />~upreme Power, yet do we deplore the loss of a valued employee,
<br />a citizen of outstanding worth, a courteous and kindly gentle-
<br />man.

<br />That we extend to his family our sincere sympathy in their be-
<br />reavement, and that this resolution be spread upon the minutes
<br />of this meeting and a copy forwarded to the family of the de-
<br />ceased.

<br />and change the same back to the former or recording system of the state of Oregon,
