<br /> A total of nine applications from dealers to sell tobacco were presented and
<br /> approved by the council, as follows. It was reported that 201 tobacco dealers in
<br /> the city had paid their 1938 license fee of $1.00. Seven others have applied but
<br /> 26 not yet paid the ir fee and 11 remaining have me.de no effort to meet the law.

<br /> At this time sealed bids were opened on the steel reouirements by the Street
<br /> Department. The bids were as follows: Oregon Supply Company, $487.47 and R.A. Babb
<br /> Company, ~457.71. It appearing that R.A. Babb Company had submitted the lowest. bid,
<br /> ) 29 they were awarded the contract to fulfill the city's needs in this respect.
<br /> The Recorder was authorized to call for bids for the city's requirements on

<br /> Mayor Large requested the council to revoke the rooming house permits granted
<br /> to Cozy Hotel and Camp Hotel located on East Broadway by reason of the fact that
<br /> both establishments were operating as houses of prostitution. Upon mot ion made,
<br /> 33 seconded and duly carried this request was granted and the license revoked at once.
