Mayor Large presided over the meetin ., Councilmen present were: Messrs. Lamb, Reid, Bond, Carlson, Farrington, Hanns, Page, and Koppe; absent, none. Fred Lamb, Chairman of the Judiciary Committee, stated that it was the recommendation of his Committee that Mr. A. T. Hall should cease peddling and to this 3 mandate Mr. Hall nad agree? t I The $525.00. offer of F. M. Cashman on behalf of a client for Lot 5" Book 10, at the tiouthwest corner of Broadway and Van tsuren was rejected by the Finance Committee and a counter-offer of $550.00 extended. Upon motion made and seconded, 4 this recommendation was duly approyed. tClient: A,. Gordon Clarke) ..... The $550.00. offer of W. K. Striker for client for Lot 7, Block 21, Hud- dleston's Amended A~dition was accepted by the Finance Committee and approved by the council. tClient: O~in Snellstroml 5 ,{ o.ffer of Edith F. Gardiner for client in the amount of $550.0.0, $60.00 down and$15.00 per month including interest, for property at 261 Jefferson Street, was accepted on the condition that a payment of $110.00 down and $15.00 per month plus interest be made. Upon motion made and seconded, this recommendation was duly approved by the council. (Client: Ralph Vitus) . 6 Mr. Hanns, Chairman of the Fire and Water Committee, recommended the in- stallation of a street light at the corner of Fourth and Almaden Streets and it was 60 ordered by the council. 7 1 Sam Bond, chairman of the Police Committee, recommended that the request of the Oregon Motor Stages, Inc. to abandon certain bus operations and commence new 8 ones within the city of Eugene be granted and it was so ordered. They are as follow: Abandon: I , 6th street between Olive and Willamette Olive Street between 6th and 7th Street 7th Street between Olive and Willamette Franklin Boulevard between Villard and 11th 11th street between Franklin and Alder 14tp Street between University and Agate Agate Street between 14th and 15th ,street Commence: 13th st between Moss and Franklin Blvd. On 15th Street between Willamette and Kincaid On Kincaid between 15th St and 13th Street On University between 14th and 15th Street 15th Street between University and Agate. I The request of the Disabled Veterans of Foreign Wars for a beer license during their annual convention with the local unit being the applicant and responsib e r9 party, was duly approved by the Police Committee and action sustained by the council. The Mountjoy and Carmichael request for a loading zone at the rear en- trance of the building at 77 East Broadway, was disposed of as follows: That this firm and the paint company are to use the curb cut granted to the Eugene Morning 10 News on a cooperative basis. I I The application of Safeway Stores for a Class B License, was denied by, the Police Committee and upon motion made aBd seconded, recommendation approved by ill the councIl. The Police Committee recommendation that one-hour parking signs be place If in front of and on the west side of the court house, was unanimously approved. Request of L. M. Watson for a wiaver of the zoning ordinance in regard t the occupancy of a building he had commenced at 1224 Willamette street, was denied by the Board of Appeals. Exception was taken by members of the council to this deni 1. City Engineer Clubb stated that the occupancy of this building was in direct conf~ic with the zoning ordinance. An ordinance amending Zoning Ordinance #8413 to allow this particular type of occupancy for that building, was presented and had its first reading, passed to its second ~nd third readings by unanimous consent of the council bY title under suspension of the rule and was placed for final passage.
