<br />Request of Professor E.E. DeCou for a reclassification of certain lots
<br />near the whiteaker School for business purposes, was presented. The Board of Appea ,&
<br />reported that action on this request had been postponed until such time that more
<br />information could be obtained. This action was agreeable to the council.

<br />The Board of Appeals recommended that the request of Pete's Bakery,
<br />1522 Olive Street, for installation of a neon sign at that location be denied and
<br />16 it was so ordered by the council.

<br />Request of I.G. Kjosness to be allowed the useR of certain type of con-
<br />str~ction, which does not comply with the Building Code and cites figures from
<br />building authorities in support of his request, was presented. As his project seem
<br />to be indefinite as to the number of buildings or locations, the Board of Appeals
<br />recommends that the request be denied but that he be permitted to make request on
<br />;17 each definite project and it was so ordered by the council.

<br />Request of F. R. Gates for a we:11ver of the "Set-Backll ordinance so that
<br />he may make a twenty-two foot, addition to the west of his present store at the
<br />southwest corner of the intersection of 19th and Agate, agreeing to en~er into a
<br />contract with the city to stand the cost of removal of such portion of building
<br />necessary whep 19th Avenue should be widened, was presented. The Board recommends
<br />that this request be granted upon the filing of a proper contract and it was so
<br />ordered by the council.

<br />Request of Lewis Barr to open an alley through Lot 17, Block 35, Fairmou t
<br />or use a road now going through his property on Lot 18, the city to gravel the seme
<br />and keep up in good condition, was received. It was pointed out that this was neces-
<br />sary as the old outlet through Fairmount Boulevard is now impassable. The request
<br />was referred to the street Committee for consideration.

<br />Statement of Bills for the Eugene Public Library for the month of January,
<br />20 was presented and ordered placed on file.
<br />
<br />Request of Sarah L. Wright to cut down the trees in the parking strip of
<br />the property adjoining their residence at 2241 Alder Street, as the roots interfered
<br />/21 with the sewer system, was referred to the Sewer Committee for investigation.
<br />
<br />Petition to remove the one-hour parking limitation on 13th between Alder
<br />22 and Kincaid Streets was met "with unanimous denial.

<br />Upon motion made and duly seconded, the application of Mrs. Mary D.
<br />123 Chambers, 958 Lawrence, to rebond delinquent assessments, was approved~
<br />
<br />The Recorder requested that all reservations for use of the Council
<br />Chambers be made in his office so that a proper record of the meetings could be
<br />/24 ,kept. This was unanimously approved.

<br />C. V. Simon's resignation from the Park Board was presented and accepted
<br />with regrets. The council extended a vote of thanks to Mr. Simon for the excellent
<br />25 services rendered by him on behalf of the Board.

<br />An Ordinance repealing Ordinance No. 662 of the City of Eugene passed by
<br />the Common Council March 26, 1907, and approved by the Mayor March 29, 1907; and
<br />Ordinance No. 8478 passed by the Common Council July 13, 1936 and approved by the
<br />Mayor July 14, 1936; and discontinuing the Park Commission, had its first reading
<br />and passed to its second and third readings by title under suspension of the rule by
<br />unanimous consent of the council and was placed for final passage. The ayes and
<br />nays were called, councilmen voting aye: Lamb, Reid, Bond, Carlson,Farrington, Hann ,
<br />Page, and Koppe; nay~ none; absent, none. The ordinance was declared passed and
<br />26 numbered. 8593.

<br />The following three curb cutx reports were approved by the City Engineer
<br />and the council thereupon authorized the a~ffice of the City Recorder to issue per-
<br />mits to A. W. Fogelstrom. 543 Blair, J.W. Pifer, 1944 Alder; Arne Christofferson,
<br />27 72 20th Avenue, and it was so ordered.
