<br />feet of Lot 8 in Block 4, Original Plat of Eugene city, price $850.00 be placed on

<br />Request of C. L. Kelly, Manager of the Miner Building, for a permit to
<br />erect 'a penthouse on the roof of the Miner Building for purposes other than those
<br />provided for in the Building Code, was presented. The Board of Appeals recoID~ended
<br />that this request be granted on the condition that proper safeguards be provided
<br />against accidents for those who might use the roof for sun-bathing purposes. This
<br />19 recommendation was sustained by the council.

<br />Request of Arthur Richardson for a permit to construct a duplex residence,
<br />costing approximately $4.000, on the lot at the Northwest corner of the intersection
<br />of Fifteenth Avenue and High Street, was presented. This location being just outsid
<br />the Apartment Zone, the Board of Appeals recommended that it be granted and it was
<br />20 so ordered by the council.

<br />H. C. Skade request for a waiver of the Set-back Ordinance to permit him
<br />to build a duplex residence at the Southwest corner of the intersection of 14th
<br />Avenue and Ferry Street, was presented. As the proposed set-back is so near to the
<br />reqUired set-back, the Board' of Appeals recommended that it be granted 'and upon
<br />motion duly made, seconded, and carried, the recommendation of the Board was unani-
<br />21 mously approved.

<br />Request of C. F. and Violet "Wright for a waiver of the Set-back Ordinance
<br />to permit erection of a residence with an attached garage on the South 50 feet of
<br />Lots 1 and 2, Block 3, Rugh's Addition, being located on Olive Street between 23rd
<br />and 24th, was presented. The Board of Appeals recommended that this request be
<br />denied and the parties herein interested be required to observe the pro~lsions of th
<br />Set Back Ordinance. Mr. Wright appeared before the Council, and requested a reversal
<br />of the Board's action. The Council, however, refused to alter in any way the re-
<br />22 commendation of the Board of Appeals.

<br />J. M. Murray request for waiver of the Set-back Ordinance to permit him
<br />-to erect a new building on the East half of Lot 2, Block 19, Mulligan's Addition,
<br />being located on the South side of 11th Avenue between Oak and Pearl Streets and
<br />agreeing to enter into a contract with the city the same as one executed on a former
<br />building, was approved by the Board of Appeals and upon motion made, seconded, and
<br />,23 carried, the recommendation was duly accepted by the council.

<br />, Request of A. L. Hawn for a waiver of the Set-back Ordinance to permit
<br />construction of a garage, to be excavated into the bank on the south side of the
<br />street at 2616 Fairmount Boulevard, was presented. The Board of Appeals recommended
<br />that Mr. Hawn be allowed to erect his garage four feet back from the curb line and
<br />24 this was so ordered by the council upon motion duly made Bnd seconded.

<br />Request of Wm. Keith Miller to be permitted to erect a residence in
<br />City Outlook Addition using a type of construction not provided for in the Building
<br />Code, was presented. The Board recommended ,that this request be granted on the
<br />condition that the floor girders be spaced so as to sustain load provided for in
<br />25 the code. This recommendation was duly approved by the council.

<br />Request of Mrs. Marie Monge asking for a waiver of Zoning Ordin~nce to
<br />permit the erection of a "Lunch Room" as an addition to her residence at 590 Tyler
<br />Street, said addition to be built within one foot of the sidewalk on both Sixth
<br />Avenue and Tyler Street, was denied by the Board of Appeals and recommendation duly
<br />,26 sustained by the council.

<br />Communication from Oregon Motor Stages making application for extension
<br />of parking space to 40 feet on Willamette at the intersections of 7, 8,9, 10, and
<br />11th Streets and also to paint in entirety the space allocated for the parking of
<br />,27 their busses, was referred to the Police and ~treet Gommittees.
<br />
<br />Reports for the month of February was presented by the Police Matron,
<br />28 Engineer and Police Departments. They were ordered placed on file.
