The City Recorder recommended that the present <br />amount budgeted for Juvenile Officer, Park and Playground be combined and the Schoo <br />Board add to those funds a reasonable amount. That a new Committee be appointed to <br />take place of the Playground Commission. Acting Mayor Lamb appointed Councilmen <br />Farrington and Bond to meet with two members of the ~chool Board to try to work out <br />a cooperative recreative and playground plan for the future and it was so ordered. N. and 0 of Section 1; and the <br />Sub-paragraph of Section 14 providing for a permit fee for producers, ,of Ordinance <br />No. 8531 of the City of Eugene, passed by the Common Council January 24, 1938, and <br />approved by the Mayor January 25, 1938, had its first reading and passed to its <br />second and third readings by unanimous consent of the council by title under sus- <br />pension of the rule and was placed for final passage. The ayes and nays were calle, <br />councilmen voting aye: Reid, Bond, Carlson, Farr~ngton, Page, Hanns, and ~oppe; nay <br />none; absent, none. Burtis., 156 Sixth Avenue West (Hold until plans of building are submitted). <br /> <br />The Police Committee was granted power to maKe arrangements 'to employ <br />a dog enforcement officer for the year 1939. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />33 <br />f <br /> <br />34 <br />I <br /> <br />City Attorney Calkins reported that the League of Oregon Cities was <br />preparing a'model traffic control ordinance. <br /> <br />The Recorder was instructed to secure from the heads of all departments <br />a schedule of proposed vacations of the employees. All employees employed a year <br />or more are entitled to two weeks vacation with pay. it was recommended that the <br />heads of the departments prepare their own schedule giving preference to employees <br />longest in service except in the case when an employee is directed to take time off <br />in accordance with state or Federal rulings. The Chiefs of the Depar~ments are al- <br />lowed to take their vac'ations when they see fi t but must report the sarne to the <br />Recorder. Further, that all employees must take their two weeks at one time and no <br />vacations can be held over from year to year. The Recorder was requested to prepar <br />a m~ster schedule of vacations.
