<br />C..": side stairway to the barn on the rear of the propr;:rty at 157 Eleventh Avenue West.
<br />~ As this _ barn is being used for Light. Industri~l purposes, the Board recommends that
<br />the requ~st be denied. Motion was ma~e and seconded unanimously approving the
<br />10 recommendation of the Board of Appeals.

<br />The Board of Appeals presented a request from Eyler Brown, for his client,
<br />Mr. Riddlesbarger, appearing before the Board with a contour map and plot plan of
<br />a proposed residence on Twenty-Sixth Avenve between Central and Woodlawn Streets,
<br />asking for a five foot "set-back" on Twenty-sixth Avenue. Owing to the nature of
<br />the location and numerous questions involved, the BOard wishes to refer this
<br />request directly to the Council. At this time Mr. Brown presented a map showing
<br />the location of the building on the lot as planned. After the council had studied
<br />the map and noted the location of the building and the territory in which it is
<br />located a motion was made and seconded that this party be allowed to place his garag
<br />11 within five feet of 26th Street as requested. The motion was carried.

<br />Councilman Farrington, Chairman of the Finance Cornmittee, presented the
<br />property offers beginning with the offer of Guy Bailey, $100.00, $20.00 cash and
<br />the balance within one year at 6% interest for Lot 6, Block 3, Elair Street Addition
<br />(68.4 feet north of 2nd Avenue on E Street). The Finance Cormnittee recow~ended that
<br />the offer be accepted and motion was made and seconded approving the recon~endation
<br />12/ of the COnIDlittee.

<br />The Finance Cooonittee recommended the rejection of the offer of Edith
<br />Gardiner for client, Harris Holtan, $300.00 cash for the North 100 feet of Lot 1,
<br />Block 5, Croner's Addition (Southwest corner of 4th and Almaden). Motion was made
<br />13 and seconded unanimously approving the reconMendation of the Con~ittee.

<br />(100 feet east of the southeast corner of 19th and Lincoln~, was presented. The
<br />Finance Committee reco~mended that the offer be accepted and motion was made and
<br />seconded unanimously approving the recooonendation of the Committee.

<br />The Finance Committee recommended the acceptance of the offer of John
<br />Thomason $500.00, $100.00 dovm and the balance within one year at 6% interest for
<br />the North 33.3 feet, of ~ot 13 and the South 16.7 feet of Lot 14, Block 4, Fairmount
<br />Addition (100.0 feet north of the northeast corner of 15th and Agate) providing
<br />the Board allows him to build a duplex. Motion was made and seconded unanimously
<br />approving the recommendation of the Committee.

<br />The Finance Committee reconIDlended a counter o~fer of $500.00 on the offer of
<br />W. W. McDonald, $300.00 cash, for that portion of Lot 20, Block 3, Victoria Heights
<br />owned by the City and that portion of Lot 21, described within a line from the
<br />southeast corner to 17 feet from the northeast corner of Lot 21. Motion was made

<br />for client, A. D. Cmupbell, $950.00, $250.00 cash and the balance on or before
<br />November 1, 1940 for Lot 6, Block 20, J~les Huddleston's Addition (northeast corner
<br />of Broadway and Jackson), intends to build about a $3500.00 home. Motion was made
<br />19J and seconded unanimously approving the recornmendation of the COllIDlittee.

<br />Cownunication from Hugh B. Wood accepting the $1000 counter offe~ for the
<br />East 105 feet of Lots 5 and 6 in Block 24 of the Gross Addition, northwest corner
<br />2~ of-22nd and Onyx Streets, was presented and approved.

<br />At this time Councilman Carlson asked to be excused from the meeting.

<br />Mayor Large reported that he had received complaints about fiarbage wagons
<br />not using their covers as designated in the ordinance. Councilman anns stated that
<br />he had driven down Hilyard Street recently to investigate this and found that jJhe
<br />wagons were not using their covers and there was much loose material and paper scatt red
<br />2~ along the streets. Chief of Police Bergman was instructed to check into the matwer.
