<br />Councilman Farrington sugLested that the City Recorder be instructed to call
<br />for bids to audit the books for 1940. Councilman Cox voiced serious objections to
<br />call for bids for auditing, which oojectio'n was supported by Councilman Carlson.
<br />Mo"tion vms made to call for bids, bids tobe opened at the next meeting of the
<br />co'uncil. All councilmen present' voting ay'e except Carlson and Cox'. The motion
<br />56V wa? declared passed and the City Recorder ~as instructed to call for bids.

<br />Councilman Hanns reported that ou~lying districts were taking steps to
<br />be.come regularly constituted fire district's and requested the City of Eugene to
<br />advance the legal fund requirement to put 'the proposed dfstrict measures on the
<br />57 ballot. No action w'as taken by the Council. (1)2.-5'

<br />Harvey Blythe, whose property offer was rej ected oomo t irao :lga.., addressed
<br />the council asking that his offer be reconsidered inasmuch as there was a musunder~
<br />standing on the part of the committee as to the property involved. The D~yor
<br />58 re-ferred the matter to the Finance Committee to report back, at the next meeting.
