It was the Finance. Committee's. recommendation that the City Reoorder be <br />i~struoted to check all deeds on file in his offioe to make certain,that all deeds <br />30v a~d rights-of-ways had been properly filed and reoorded. <br /> <br />The Finance Committee stated that they would not recommend any changes in <br />car and gas use by the city employees. Upon motion made and seconded the recommenda <br />31' tion was accepted. <br /> <br />. - <br />Councilman Carlson, Chairman of the Street Committee, stated it was the . <br />committee's recommendation that the petition calling for vacation of Indiana Street <br />be approved and the City Attorney be instructed to proceed with necessary steps for <br />3~ vacation. The recommendation was unanimously approved. <br /> <br />. .. <br />Fire and Water Commi~tee Chairman Hanns stated there was no.regular report <br />to make. Mayor Large asked Councilman Hanns how the organization of rural fire <br />districts was proceeding and Councilman Henne statedothat since no funds had been <br />made agailable for the necessary survey and filing for an election, the work had mor <br />or less stopped and as far as he knew there were only one or two suburban districts <br />that would initiate this for themselves. Upon motion made and seconded $75.00 was <br />made available for the use of Fire and Water Committee in proceeding with this rural <br />fire protection work. All councilmen voting yes with the exception of Councilman <br />33- Farrington and the motion was deClared carried. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />. , <br />Park Committee Chairman Barette made a very definite objeation to the use of <br />the sidewalk adjacent to Irish's Market on 6th Street as a street and it was the <br />committee's recommendation that the Irish Store be instructed to locate barriers to <br />prevent cars from driving on the sidewalk; the location of the barriers to be left t <br />. the discretion of the C~ty Engineer. Councilman Barette reported that trees would b <br />34 tr~ed very shortly to provide proper clearance of the sidewalks. <br /> <br />Councilman Barette reported that the Park Committee had been unable to dispo e <br />35' ot any animals in the .city parks. - <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />. <br />. The Police Committee made the following recommendation regarding the parking <br />meters; and the council approved the recommendation: That the City Recorder be <br />instructed to communicate with the three meter companies requesting an extension of <br />the present contract for a trial peri"od to and including December 31, 1940. That <br />a .request be made allowing the city to remove the meters now located at unfavorable <br />locations without effecting the operations of the ,contract.
