Gl!, Johnson asking for a cancellation of his <br />~, property offer and a return of the $100.00 deposit which he made due to the fact <br />that he will not be able to cont-mnue with the terms of the contract. The request <br />35 was granted and the council ordered the sale cancelled and a refund of the money. <br /> <br />Request was received from C. E. Christens~n asking for the cancellation <br />of his contract and a refund of $50.00 which he had deposited on a property offer. <br />The request was submitted because it will be impossible for him to go ahead with the <br />building he had planned. The Council ordered the sale cancelled and refund of the <br />money to C. E. Christensen, and it was so ordered. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Communication was presented from R. R. Fenn asking the .city to make side- <br />walk repairs on a piece of property he had recently purchased from the city and it <br />37 was the general opinion that the request be denied and it was so ordered. <br /> <br />Councilman Cox questioned the advisability of making refunds of deposits <br />38 when the city accepts an offer for a piece of property. No action was taken. <br /> <br />The City Recorder requested the authority to refund $1.00 to W. Waning whic <br />was a double payment upon a traffic fine. Motion was made and seconded unanimously <br />39 approving the request. <br /> <br />An ordinance declaring the intention of the Common Council of the City of <br />Eugene to make a reassessment of the cost of paving Monroe Street from the <br />South line of the Southern Pacific Railroad right-of-way to the North line of <br />Seventh Avenue West in the city of Eugene as the same abuts upon the property <br />hereinafter descXibed, and fixing a time and place for holding a meeting of the <br />Common Council at which all protests against such reassessment shall be heard and <br />directing the giving of notices was presented to the council for its first reading, <br />and under suspension of the rules passed to its second and third readings by title <br />by unanimous consent of the council and placed for final passage. Councilmen voting <br />aye: Reid, Bond, Carlson, Farrington, Hanns, Koppe, and Cox; nay: none; absent: <br />4dBarette. The ordinance was declared passed and numbered 8644. - <br /> <br />An ordinance initiating the vacation of Indiana Street (26th Avenue East) <br />from the east margin of Columbia Street to the West margin of Central Boulevard, <br />Was presented to the council for its first reading and under suspension of the rules <br />passed to its second and third readings by title by unanimous consent of the council <br />and placed for final passage. Councilmen voting aye: Reid, Bond, Carlson, Farringt n, <br />Hanns, Koppe, and Cox; nay: none; absent: Barette. The ordinance was declared <br />41 passed and numbered 8645. <br /> <br />The City Recorder presented a request from the Civil Aeronautics Authority <br />in Seattle asking for the renewal of the lease for the Beacon Site and Eugene <br />antenna pole at the Eugene Airport. It was the recommendation that the request <br />be granted and the lease renewed at $1.00 each for a period of one year beginning <br />JIJuly 1, 1940 and ending June 30, 1941. The Recorder was instructed to notify <br />42the Civil Aeronautics Authority of the council's favorable actio~,,~ <br /> <br />The City Recorder reported that Carroll C. RObert~igning his liquor <br />license had not signed as administrator of the estate and therefore the Liquor <br />Control Commission was requesting new papers correctly signed. It was the <br />~ecommendation of the Police Committee that the license be allowed and it was so <br />43 \!!tordered. <br /> <br />I Request was received from Foster & Kleiser for a refund of $1.00 for <br />/~uilding permit No. 14707 which permit was issued on May 9, but never used. The <br />44 Tequest was unanimously granted. <br /> <br />I Councilman Reid expressed appreciation from the Cemetery Association Committee <br />45 for the city's co-operation and assistance in cleaning the old I.O.O.F. cemetery. <br /> <br />Upon motion the council adjourned. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />C.
