Raish asking for a permit to construct a <br /> service station on Lot 6, Block 3, Wallis-Dorris Addition located on the lot at the I <br /> northeast corner of'the intersection of Eleventh Avenue and Polk Street. The Board <br /> W" of Appeals recommends that this request be denied and the council unanimously approv d <br /> ""~, '" <br /> 24' the recommendation. <br /> A report of cement sidewalk repairs for the months of May and June was <br /> 25- presented from City Engineer Clubb and ordered placed on file. <br /> Monthly reports were presented from the offices of the City Engineer, Police <br /> 26' Department, Police Matron and the'Fire DepartmenVand ordered placed on file. I <br /> A petition signed by representatives of the area of 8th and Jefferson Street <br /> was presented in the hope of having a stop sign placed on Jefferson Street entering <br /> 2'7 ~ 8th Street for the safety of the public. The request was referred to the Police <br /> Committee. <br /> An application for a Second Hand Delaers License was presented from D. L. <br /> Hazelton at '762 Park Street. N. Shumway. Motion was made and seconded approving the <br /> 29( recommendation of the Engineer. <br /> A request was received from the Lane County Health Service for the City of <br /> Eugene to sponsor an NYA project to remove the trees from the jungles located at <br /> the northwestern part of Eugene. After considerable discussion the matter was <br /> 30- referred to the Judiciary Committee and the City Attorney. <br /> . I <br /> An ordinance creating a $3000 revolving fund for the City Treasurer was <br /> presented to the council for its first reading and passed to its second and third <br /> readings by title under suspension of the rules by unanimous consent of the council <br /> and placed for final passage. Councilmen voting aye: Reid, Bond, Carlson, Farring- <br /> 31' ton, Hanns, Koppe and Barette. The ordinance was declared passed and numbered 8650. <br /> An ordinance initiating the vacation of West 3rd Avenue from the West line <br /> of Jefferson Street to the East line of Madison Street was presented to the ,council. <br /> It had its first reading and passed to its second and third readings by title under <br /> suspension of the rules by unanimous consent of the council and placed for final <br /> passage. Councilmen voting aye: Reid, Bond, Carlson, Farrington, Hanns, Koppe <br /> 32' and Barette; nay: none. The ordinance was declared passed and numbered 8651. <br /> . <br /> Mr. J.,B. Sutton addressed the council asking re-consideration of the reques <br /> in re-classifying 11th and Patterson Streets to permit the erection of a service <br /> station. Mr. Sutton referred to the property located at 11th and Hilyard which <br /> had been owned by Alfred Knowlton and had been rebuilt without being re-zoned <br /> and he felt he was entitled to special consideration. After considerable discussion <br /> the request was referred to the Mayor and Planning Commission with a request that <br /> 33 Mr. Sutton appear before the Commission meeting of July 9, in the Council Chambers. <br /> Upon motion the council adjourned. .. <br /> . , <br /> C.
