The ordinance was declared passed and numbered 8652. . I A resolution instructing the Mayor and City Recorder to execute a deed from the City of Eugene to Thomas R. Smothers for the following described property 37 was presented and unanimously adopted: fA RES 0 L UTI 0 N ~ WHEREAS, the Eugene Water Board has bought and sold cR1 property with a view to straightening out its lines on its properties on the McKenzie highway, and in the process of I this adjustment has found it necessary to convey to Thomas R. Smothers the following described property, to-wit: I All of a triangular shaped tract of land bounded on the East by the East line of the SW! of SE!, Sec. . 2, T. l~ S. R. lE., W.M.; on the Southwest by the old County Road; and on the Northwest by the McKenzie Highway" and more specifically described as follows: ~ Beginning at the intersection of the Southerly right of way line of McKenzie Highway with the East . J. 1. l~ne of the SW4 of SE4 of ~ec. 2,. T. 17 S.R. 1 E., W. M. , said point of beginning being approximately 410 ft..North of the South line of said Sec. 2, and running thence South along said East line 250 ft., more or less, to the northerly right of way line of the County Road, thence Northwesterly along said County Road 230 feet more or less to its intersection . with the Southerly right of way line of the McKenzie Highway, thence North 580 15' East along said Southerly right of way line, 205 feet, more or less, to the point of beginning, containing 0.5 acres, more or less, all in Lane County, Oregon . Therefore, I BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL of the City of Eug ene, that the Mayor and City ~ecordar be and they are hereby instructed and directed to execute a deed from the City of Eugene, a municipal corporation, to Thomas R. Smothers, for the above described property. Applications for a Second-Hand Dealers License, were presented fram the Oregon Book Exchange~at 31 West 7th; Eugene Exchange~ 695 Willamette; Brenner's Hardware and Furniture Store,~155 West 8th; Jerome's Trading post;-764 Willamette, Bob's Press Shop~ 875 Olive; Blatt's Second Hand Store~740 Willamette; and The Rummage Shop,' 661 Willamette. Application was presented from L. C. Peterson. for a bowling alley permit at 727 Willamette Street. As all applications had been approve 38'" by the Chief of Police, motion was made and seconded to grant licenses to all applicants and it was so ordered. The City Recorder reported there was a problem existing in the matter of providing chairs for members of the band at the regular band concerts. Motion was made and seconded that $75.00 be expended for purchasing,chairs with a possibility I of building a storage space for them at the base of the present stand. The question ~was placed upon roll. call, councilmen voting aye: Hanns; nay: Reid, Bond, Carlson, 39 Farrington, Koppe and Barette. The motion wa$ declared lost. . G " . _ On behalf of Mayor W. W. Chadwick of Salem, Mayor Elisha Large extended an I invitation to the City of Eugene to attend Salem's centennial celebration from July 40"'-J 31 to August 4, ,. inc. Mayor Large reported that department heads of the city had received ~m the proposed budget forms for the 1941 bUdget and the same should be completed and 41'- in the hands of the City Recorder by the 24th of this month. Councilman Hanns reported that the Water main. was being extended on West I Sixth Street to give 'service to the new plywood plant and said authority should be granted for the installation of water hydrants b~~ond Sixth Street. Upon motion made and seconded the authority was granted for the purpose of protecting the plant 42 as previously agreed upon. Upon motion the council adjourned. . C. M. Bryan City Recorder . ~
