<br />Ii~ The minutes of the regular meeting of the Common Council held on August 12,11
<br />" 1940 at 7:30 o'clock p.m. Mayor Elisha Large presided over the meeting. Councilmen
<br />present were:, A. A. Reid, Sam C. Bond, Fred C. Carlson, A. C. Farrington, P. J.
<br />~anns, Louis Koppe and A. E. Barette; absent: none. A vacancy existed from the seco d
<br />, ,1]iWard because of the recent resignation of Councilman H. J. Cox.

<br />;., The minutes of the previous meeting, July 22, were presented and ordered I
<br />2 laced on file. C The meeting was herewith called to order.
<br />
<br />IV'myor Large turned the meeting over to Commander H. Taylor of the American
<br />Legion who introduced Harold J. Wells. Mr. Wells made a very excellent address in
<br />presenting the American Flag which had been purchased by the City throug~he
<br />facilities of the American Legion for the use of the Common Council in the Council
<br />Chambers. Mayor Large, on behalf of the Common Council, accepted the flag express-
<br />3~ing appreciation and sincere thanks for the legion's cooperation in the matter.

<br />Councilman Farrington, Chairman of the Finance Committee, presented the
<br />roperty offers beginning with the offer of Ford Hand, $700 cash, for Lot 12, Block
<br />11, Hendricks Amended Addition (Southwest corner of 16th and Charnelton). The offer
<br />is made on condition that he be allowed to build a duplex and also that the city
<br />construct a new cement sidewalk on the Charnelton Street side of the property. It
<br />~fas the recommendation of the Finance Committee that the offer be accepted and the
<br />4~ eco~~endation was unanimously approved by the council.

<br />The Finance Cormnittee recornmended a counter offer of $550 on the offer of
<br />jw. E. Reischman, $450 cash, for the North 60 feet of Lot 11, Block 10, Driverton
<br />~ddition (100 feet North of the Northeast corner of 19th and Hilyard). Offer con-
<br />5,~itional on FHA Loan. The recomraendation was unanimously approved.

<br />ras acc~pted: $450 cash, for Lot 10, Block 2, Hollenbeck Addition, (Northwest corner
<br />6,of 14th and Washington); Offer conditional on FHA Loan. -I

<br />1- A $500 counter offer was recommended on the offer of W. E. Reischman,
<br />~450 cash, for Lot 3, Block 3, Hollenbeck Addition (52 feet south of the Southvvest -
<br />Icorner of 14th and Washington). Offer conditional on FHA Loan. The recommendation
<br />7'~as unanimously approved.

<br />I The Fin~nce Committee recommended a $550 counter offer on the offer of
<br />v. E. Reischman, ~500 cash, for Lot 1, Block 5, Hollenbeck Addition (Southeast
<br />~orner of 15th and Washington); offer conditional on FHA Loan. The recommendation
<br />8.....iWas unanimously approved.

<br />The offer of Rugh Realty Company for client, Ernest G. Ray, $375;, $75
<br />pash and the balance at $10.00 per month including interest at 6% for Lot 9,. Block 6,
<br />Chambers Addition (59.7 feet east of the Southeast corner of 11th and Chambers)
<br />ras presented with the recommendation that the offer be accepted and the recommenda-
<br />9~tion was unanimously approved.

<br />A counter offer of $475; $75 rebate if house is started in sixty days
<br />~as recomraended by the Finance Comnittee on the offer of W. H. Dandy, $400 cash,
<br />~or Lot 1, Block 4, Walnut Park Addition (Southeast corner of 14th and Jefferson).

<br />It was the recomrnendation of the Finance Comnlittee to accept the offer
<br />of C. S. McHenry, $75 cash, for a strip of land 10 x 110 (70 feet North of the _
<br />Northeast corner of 23rd and Agate); offer conditional on FHA Loan. The recomTIlenda- I
<br />11 ~ion was unanimously approved.

<br />The offer of J. W. McCracken, $650 cash, for Lot 10, Block 20, Colle~e
<br />Hill Park Addition (120 feet North of the Northeast corner of 23rd and Lincoln);
<br />requests refund of $50.00 at time construction of house is started was presented with
<br />, ~he recommendation that the offer be accepted and the recommendation was unanimously
<br />12' approved.

<br />I A counter offer of $200; $40 down and $10 per month was recommended on the I
<br />offer of Pietro LaCa1si, $150.00, $30.00 cash and the balance at $5.00 per month
<br />blus interest at 6% for Lot 8, Block 4, Shelton's First Addition (133.6 feet North ~-
<br />bf the Northeast corner of 2nd and Lawrence). The recomrnendation was unanimously

<br />A $450 counter offer was extended on the offer of Elmer H. Hunt, $400;
<br />~50 cash and the balance at $10 per month plus interest at 6%(beginning Oct. 5, 1940}
<br />for the North 100 feet of Lot 1, Block 4, Campbell's First Addition, (Southwest
<br />Ieorner of 7th and Polk Streets. The recommendation of the Committee was unanimously
