Reporting on the purchase of city directories for the city offices as per th offer <br /> I!l% <Df the Valley Printing Company at $12.50 for each directory and the offer of Polk and <br /> Cothpany at $10.00. for each directory, the Finance Committee recommended that the City <br /> 1 Recorder purchase six directoreis from Polk and Company at the cost of $10.00 each. <br /> Motion was made and seconded to accept the recommendation of the Finance Committee a d I <br /> all councilmen voted aye with the exception of councilman Stewart who voted no. The <br /> 14 rec~mmendation< was declared approved. ' : .' <br /> Councilman Farrington reported that Mr: Joseph Harrell, Manager of the Airpo t, <br /> had talked of constructing a shop and hangar at' the airport at his own expense but <br /> wished an option on the lot on which the building stands or be reimbursed in some ma <br /> in case the airport should be discontinued. The Recorder read a communication from <br /> Joseph Harrell in support of the request. After a short discussion motion was made <br /> and seconded to refer the matter to the Finance' and Judiciary' Committees and it was I <br /> 15 ordered. <br /> Councilman Carlson, Chairman of the Street Committee, reported that there wa <br /> needed by the Street and Sewer Departments a heavy duty flat bottom trailer to trans <br /> their gas shovel and steam roller, and pointed out that it was now possible to <br /> purchase a used trailer for $750 f.o.b. Portland. Councilman Reid stated that fund~ <br /> were available within the Street Department for the purchase of the same. It was h1 <br /> opinion that the trailer shpuld be purchased an~ he made a motion, seconded by Coun~ <br /> man, Carlson authorizing the purchase of the equipment.
