<br /> ~16 <br /> I <br /> -- <br /> WHEREAS, in order that the city may complete the purchase, <br /> ~ a series of contracts have been entered into with the sellers I <br /> ~. providing that upon their depositing a deed and an abstract <br /> , showing marketable title, free of incumbrances, that the <br /> #,,~: <br /> ~.o <br /> city will, as soon as it conveniently can, examine and approve <br /> the title, issue warrants for the purchase price, and <br /> WHEREAS, the First National Bank of Eugene and The <br /> United States National Bank of Portland (Oregon) through its <br /> Eugene Branch, have agreed to take over the warrants so delivered <br /> to the sellers and to give the sellers cash therefor, I <br /> BE IT RESOLVED that the Common Council of the City of <br /> Eugene does hereby pledge the full faith and credit of the City <br /> of Eugene to the orderly issuance of the warran~ and the <br /> payment thereof and expressly agrees with the banks aforesaid that <br /> they will, themselves, defend any litigation, should any arise, <br /> which in any way affects the validity of the warrants or <br /> impairs in any way the safety and security of the banks in <br /> taking up the warrants and paying for them. <br /> Resolution was presented authorizing the Mayor and City Recorder to <br /> execute the contract and issue warrants, depositing the contract and warrants <br /> in the United States National ~ank of Portland (Oregon) Eugene Branch for the <br /> purchase of the Ella May Stickels property. A resolution pledging the full fffith <br /> and credit of the City of Eugene to the orderly issuance of the warrants and <br /> payment thereof was presented.
