~ 432 was primarily because of his health but also because of his business~ He wished it understood that although there had been a number of disappointments during the ~ past six years, these disappointments would not leave any personal ill feelings ~c and he wished it made a matter of record that he had appreciate~ery deeply the {~ cooperation of all the city employees in the work of the city government and he hoped for a continuation of the cooperation between the council and the employees. He also appreciated the fine spirit that existed between the Mayor and members of the Council. Mayor Large expressed his appreciation in behalf of the council for the very fine services that Mr. Carlson had rendered during the past sit years and regretted very much his having to resign. Councilman Bond expressed regret in the resignation and made a motion to accept the resignation. The motion was 5~ seconded by Councilman Farrington and unanimously approved. I Councilman Brownson also expressed his regrets at Mr. Carlson's resigna- tion. They had talked it over considerably and Mr. Carlson was willing to do what he could unofficially for the members of the council. At this time Councilman Brownson recommended to the Mayor and members of the Common Council the appoint- ment of A. L. Hawn to complete the unexpired term of Councilman Carlson. Motion was made by Councilman Barette, seconded by Councilman Farrington, that the recommendation be approved and it was so ordered. I \ ~ Upon motion the meeting was herewith adjourned. C. M.
