<br />r 440 <br /> <br />A resolution was presented in which the Council resolved that the <br />,_', planning, construction and completion and the subsequent operation and maintenance <br />:.:" of the swimming pool shall be under the immediate direction of the School Board, <br />:~~subject only to the approval of the City Planning Commission. Upon motion made <br />45 and seconded the resolution was unanimously approved. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />~ <br />~ <br />o <br /> <br />RE,e,OLUTION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, heretofore, by an initiative measure voted on by the <br />electorate of the City of Eugene at the general election of <br />November 5, 1940, a measure was carried authorizing the Common <br />Council of the City of Eugene to levy in two years, being the <br />levy of the fall of 1940 and the levy of the fall of 1941, <br />one mill in each year, upon the taxable property of the City, for the <br />purpose of producing a fund for the construction of a SWimming pool <br />in the City, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the proposal was presented to the electors of the <br />City upon the premise that the swimming pool should be placed <br />upon the school board p~operty at the conner of Nineteenth <br />Avenue and Willamette Street, together with their other improve- <br />ments, in order that the same might be placed upon public property <br />at a central location, and <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />VrnEREAS, it was flfirther contemplated in carrying said <br />election, that the construction of the swimming pool shall be under <br />the immediate surveillance and direction of the Board of Directors of <br />School District No.4, <br /> <br />Now, Therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the Gity of Eugene that <br />th~ funds for the erection, and construction of the swimming pool shall <br />be disbursed as collected by city warrants, bearing the endorsement <br />of the Clerk of the School Board under direction of the Board of <br />Directors, and <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />It is further Resolved, that the Planning, construction and <br />completion and the subsequent operation and maintenance of the <br />swimming pool shall be under the immediate direction of the School <br />Board, subject only to the approval of the City Planning Commission <br />of the' City of Eugene. <br /> <br />U~yor Large called for the election of a PreSident of the Council to <br />serve for the year 1941. The Mayor stated that former Councilman A. A.Reid, <br />tleceased, had been president up until the time of his death and the council had <br />bot elected a new president. Councilman Farrington made a motion that Sam C. Bond, <br />16enior member of the council, be unanimously elected as president of the council, <br />~~hiCh motion was seconded by Councilman Koppe and unanimously approved by the <br />40' bouncil. <br /> <br />The meeting was herewith adjourned. <br /> <br />C.
