Upon motion made 45 and seconded the resolution was unanimously approved. I ~ ~ o RE,e,OLUTION WHEREAS, heretofore, by an initiative measure voted on by the electorate of the City of Eugene at the general election of November 5, 1940, a measure was carried authorizing the Common Council of the City of Eugene to levy in two years, being the levy of the fall of 1940 and the levy of the fall of 1941, one mill in each year, upon the taxable property of the City, for the purpose of producing a fund for the construction of a SWimming pool in the City, and WHEREAS, the proposal was presented to the electors of the City upon the premise that the swimming pool should be placed upon the school board p~operty at the conner of Nineteenth Avenue and Willamette Street, together with their other improve- ments, in order that the same might be placed upon public property at a central location, and I VrnEREAS, it was flfirther contemplated in carrying said election, that the construction of the swimming pool shall be under the immediate surveillance and direction of the Board of Directors of School District No.4, Now, Therefore, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the Gity of Eugene that th~ funds for the erection, and construction of the swimming pool shall be disbursed as collected by city warrants, bearing the endorsement of the Clerk of the School Board under direction of the Board of Directors, and I It is further Resolved, that the Planning, construction and completion and the subsequent operation and maintenance of the swimming pool shall be under the immediate direction of the School Board, subject only to the approval of the City Planning Commission of the' City of Eugene. U~yor Large called for the election of a PreSident of the Council to serve for the year 1941. The Mayor stated that former Councilman A. A.Reid, tleceased, had been president up until the time of his death and the council had bot elected a new president. Councilman Farrington made a motion that Sam C. Bond, 16enior member of the council, be unanimously elected as president of the council, ~~hiCh motion was seconded by Councilman Koppe and unanimously approved by the 40' bouncil.
