<br />r""496 <br /> <br />Mayor Large stated that the Government Engineers occupying the armory <br />had asked for a reservation for parki~g space at the armory for them. A motion <br />~ was made and seconded that the North side of 7th Street from the East line of <br />~,", Oak Street to the alley running North and South in the block be marked off and <br />~ reserved for occupants of> the armory. Motion was carried. <br />'1.,.- <br /> <br />A communication from the. Planning ,Commission regarding a proposed change <br />If Lot 2, Block 2, Whitney's Addition from a.multiple family residence district <br />to a business district was denied, but it was recornmended that the council issue <br />a special pernlit for the business already occupying this lot. A motion was made <br />34 and seconded that this reCOmrrieridation ,be adopted. <br /> <br />A card of appreciation for the use of Skinner Butte Park by 78 girls <br />35~of the Springfield League was read and placed on file. <br /> <br />A letter from Mrs. Maggie Burbach in regal"d to a retaining wall on the <br />36~Amazon at 242 '14th Avenue WE'St was read and( ordered placed on file. <br /> <br />A letter from the Planning vommission in regard to re-classifying 3 <br />corners of the intersection of 19th and Hilyard was read. A res0lution directing <br />the Planning Commission to hold hearing and initiate proceedings to re-classify <br />the corners at 19th and ,Hilyard accept only the N. W. corner was read and adopted <br />by the council. I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />37 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION <br /> <br />" BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of <br />Eugene that a proceeding be initiated changing the <br />Southeast corner;' the Southeast corner and Northeast <br />corner, at the intersection of 19th Avenue East and <br />Hilyard Street from a limited business zone to a <br />multiple family classification, leaving the,Northwest <br />corner of said intersection under the present business <br />classification. <br /> <br />And that co~y of this Resolution be forwarded to the <br />City Planning Commission and that it be and it is <br />hereby directed to hold a hearing on June 10, 1941 <br />and to prepare a tentative report to be submitted at <br />said hearing, and shall thereupon either adopt said <br />tentative report as a permanent report or reject the <br />same and report its action back to the council. <br /> <br />A letter from the State Highway Commission regarding 11th Avenue from <br />Franklin Blvd. to the Western city limits be designated as a through highway was <br />read and ord~red placed on f~le. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />38 <br />39 <br /> <br />A second hand dealers license was granted to J. P. Brannen at 972 Oak St. <br /> <br />Reports of the Eugene Public Library for the month of April and the Polic <br />Matron for the month of May were read and ordered placed on file. <br /> <br />The following recommendations of the Board of Appeals were adopted by , <br />the council: <br /> <br />401 <br /> <br />41 <br /> <br />Request was received from the Oregon Lumber Sales for a permit to erect <br />a small office guilding on'their property on the east side of Olive Street between <br />Fifth and Sixth Avenues. The Board recommends that this request be granted. <br /> <br />A request was received from Clarence N. Crocker asking for a permit to <br />erect a temporary building, on the rear of the lot adjoining his place of business <br />at 56 13th Avenue West. The Board recommends this request be denied. <br /> <br />A request was received from L. C. Nicholl asking for permission to go <br />into- the Gasoline and Lube Oil business on the Northwest corner of 6th and Filmore <br />Streets. The Board recommends 'that this request be- denied. <br /> <br />A request was recelve~ from the Church of Christ aSking for a permit to <br />erect a church building on the ~outheast corner of the intersection of Mill Street <br />and 16th Avenue with a set-back of eight 'feet from the sidewalk on each street. <br />The Board recommends that they be required to comply with the regular set-back whic <br />wCfuld be ten feet from prop,erty line on 16th and twenty feet from property line on <br />441 M:tll Street. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />42 <br /> <br />43 <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />A request was received from Arthur Riehl asking for a permit to erect an <br />apartment house on the lot at the southwest corner of the intersection of Ferry <br />Street and 15th Avenue. The Board recommends that the reque st be referred to the, <br />Planning Commission. <br /> <br />45 <br /> <br />Mr. W. <br />what he could do <br />property lines. <br />against this and <br /> <br />H.
