Lot 7 in Block 3 of Skinner's D6nationto Lane County, permitting ~~ '!.'-- the said Shell Oil Company, Incorporated to erect a building '''_'->'( sixteen feet from the property l~ne of Sixth Avenue, with a provision that at any time the city ot Eugene shall widen Sixth Ayenue that the said Shell Oil ~ompany, Incorporated, and I L~zzie Maltam and Josiah W. Maltman, their successors, heirs and assigns, shall make no claim for damages on account of the portion of said bui+ding standing upon said set back ~rea, but shall claim damages only for land taken, and shall upon demand of the city in case of such street Widening, immediately remove that portion of the building resting upon the area so set back without any cost or expense ~o the City of Eugene. An ordinance amending section 13 of Ordinance8~13 establishin~ set-back line '" on East Broadway from High Street to its junction with the Southern acific Rail- way Company track, 16 feet on each side of Broadway had its first reading and under suspension of the rules was read the second and third times. The Mayor called / for objections and there being none,'roll was oalled with all councilmen voting / 45 aye. Ordinance 8690 was dec~ared passed. The Mayor called for objections and there bein~(rione, roll was called 46 with all councilmen voting aye. Ordinance 869~ was declared passed. An ordinance to regulate public drinking fountains in the City of Eugene .and imposing a penalty was read for the first time and under suspension of xhe rules had its second and third readings. The Mayor called for,objections and there being 47 none, roll was called with all councilmen-voting ayei" Ordi~ance S692 was declared I passed. At this time Mayor Large statedth!3,t Ray H. Pence was wprking as bookkeeper in the Recorder's and Treasurer's office' and Lien Department. He requested that the name of Mr. Pence be put.. on the payroll at $100.00 per month. A motion made 48 and seconded, to this effect was carried. , . Sigloh, Edward F. Bailey, George H. McMorran, C. A. Horton, Herb J. Cox, Robert M. Fischer Jr. ~. C. Scharpf and Dr. A.E. Qaswell. A 50 motion by Bond and seconded by Hawn that, this committee be confirmed was carried. Councilman Hawn stated that the garage and tool shed used': by Mr. 1.oamb 'at the back of Skinner's Buttee needed rebuilding. He stated there was #700.00 in the v;Par~ budget for WPA work that had not been used and there was no prospect of using it this year. He sta.ted he would like to use this money for the erection of the garage and tool shed. A motion was made and seconded that the Park committee be 51 allow~d to do this work providing they could get instructions from Attorney Calkins that 1t would be ~egal to use the money which had been setpup for lVPA. . 52 Cou~cilm~n Bond presented Councilman Pennington with an electric percolator I asa wedd1ng glft at the close of th~ meeting. .
