Mr. Hawn stated that the council had recently.passed an ordinance requiring all fountain heads to be changed 'Out the City was violatrng the ordinance in that neither of the two fountains on Willamette I Street had been taken care of. Th.e matter of changing the heads on these fountains (n... 4~ and repairing the leak on the one at Broadway and Willamette. ~ ~ ~.. Councilman Pennington stated he had a complaint regarding the condition of '::0' the board walk on the Alder Street bridge over the millrace. This matter was 45 referred to the Street Committee. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned. Council Chambers, Eugene, Oregon September 10, 1941 - A special meeting of the Common Council held on September 10, 1941 called by Mayor Large. Members present were Bond,Farrington, Koppe, Barette, Stewart, 1 and Hawn; absent Brownson and Pennington. The Mayor explained that the meeting had been called to pass two resolution one concerning the wells at the Municipal Airport and the other an amendment to the Eugene Charter. Motion was made by Hawn and seconded by Bond that the resolution requesting the Eugene Water Board to take such steps and sink such necessary test or permanent wells upon the new Eugene City Airport, be adopted. 2 Motion was carried. RES 0 L UTI 0 N WHEREAS, the City of Eugehe has initiated and is developing an airport at what is known as the "new airport site" for the purpose of serving needs of defense and also providing adequate facilities for Eugene's own commerce, and . WHEHEAS, the Eugene Water Board, a department of the City, operating its water and light facilities, is located at such a distance from the airport as to make impracticable the I matter of running adequate water pipes from the City to the airport, and WHEREAS, it is believed that the water can be furnished more economically if secured on the premises, Therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY. OF EUGENE: I That the Common Council do and it does hereby request that ~he Eugene Water Board shall take such steps and sink "4' -such necessary test or permanent wells upon the new Eugene ~ity Airport as shall in their judgment furhish. the airport with sufficient ~ater for the purpose for which the airport is being developed. Motion was made by Bond and seconded by Hawn that the resolution ~o amend SU'Qdi.vision lof Section 48 of the Charter of the City of Eugene be adopted. 3 Motion was carried.' ~
