Council Chambers, Eugene, Oregon <br />September 10, 1941 <br /> <br />- A special meeting of the Common Council held on September 10, 1941 called <br />by Mayor Large. Members present were Bond,Farrington, Koppe, Barette, Stewart, <br />1 and Hawn; absent Brownson and Pennington. <br /> <br />The Mayor explained that the meeting had been called to pass two resolution <br />one concerning the wells at the Municipal Airport and the other an amendment to <br />the Eugene Charter. Motion was made by Hawn and seconded by Bond that the <br />resolution requesting the Eugene Water Board to take such steps and sink such <br />necessary test or permanent wells upon the new Eugene City Airport, be adopted. <br />2 Motion was carried. <br /> <br />RES 0 L UTI 0 N <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Eugehe has initiated and is <br />developing an airport at what is known as the "new airport site" <br />for the purpose of serving needs of defense and also providing <br />adequate facilities for Eugene's own commerce, and . <br /> <br />WHEHEAS, the Eugene Water Board, a department of the <br />City, operating its water and light facilities, is located at <br />such a distance from the airport as to make impracticable the <br />I matter of running adequate water pipes from the City to the airport, <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is believed that the water can be furnished <br />more economically if secured on the premises, <br /> <br />Therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY. OF EUGENE: <br /> <br />I That the Common Council do and it does hereby request <br />that ~he Eugene Water Board shall take such steps and sink <br />"4' -such necessary test or permanent wells upon the new Eugene <br />~ity Airport as shall in their judgment furhish. the airport <br />with sufficient ~ater for the purpose for which the airport <br />is being developed. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Bond and seconded by Hawn that the resolution ~o amend <br />SU'Qdi.vision lof Section 48 of the Charter of the City of Eugene be adopted. <br />3 Motion was carried.' <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />~ <br />
