All councilmen were present with the expeption of Brownson. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Graham Smith addressed the Council regarding the proposed well at the ~, <br />new Municipal Airport. He stated they were now down 49 feet with the four-inch ~ <br />well and that they had not yet secured water. He said that before going any ',./: <br />deeper, they wanted instructions from the council as to what to do. He stated that <br />it was impossible for anyone to say just when they would strike sufficient water <br />but the well driller thought that it would not be much further. He stated that the <br />well dri:!.ler had,€!greed to go down as far as 75 feet for the price of 3.20 per <br />foot complete with casing. After some discussion by the council, a motion was made <br />by Councilman Hawn and seconded by Councilman Bond that the well be continued on <br />1/ down to 75 feet if necessary, to get sufficient water. This motion was carried. <br /> <br />"""" <br />~,. <br /> <br />Mr. R. R. Hughes, caretaker of the City Dump Grounds, vms present <br />~4d st~ted that his contract expired at the end of the month and that so far he <br />had been unable to come to an agreement with Mr. Brownson, chairman of the Health <br />Committee. He presented a letter which he asked that the council considef. He sta ed <br />in the letter, that he had been working in the City Dump Grounds for seve~years <br />and that owing to war 'conditions he would not be able to renew the contract at <br />anything like the present agreement. He asked that le be allowed $75.00 a month for <br />May and June, 1942 and $150.00 a month thereafter; this contract to cover a period <br />of thI'ee years. As lvlr. BroV\'Ilson was not present at this time, this matter was <br />2 referred to Mr. Brownson for further consideration. <br /> <br />Mr. Lawrence K. Shumaker was present and Mayor Large asked him to <br />address the council regarding, the O.C.D. proposed Budget that had been prepared. <br />Mr. Shumaker explained that this Budget had been arrived at by the following <br />committee: N.K. Hichens, Qhairman; Wm. Clubb, Day Bayley, John Bell, Spencer <br />Collins, with the assistance of Sam Bond) representing the council.
