<br /> and converted the same into a permanat report, and has resubmitte it to the Common
<br /> Council with the recommendation that the same be enacted into an ordinance, and
<br /> the Council has prepared and given its first reading of' an ordinance enacting said

<br /> NOW (l'HEREFORE, the City Recorder be and he is hereby diredted to prepare and
<br /> cause to be published not less than three times in the Eugene Register-Guard in
<br /> Eugene, Oregon a notice of a hearing to be held at the regular Council meeting on

<br /> Sealed bids had been asked for at this Council meeting for auditing the City
<br /> books for the fiscal year beginning July 1st, 1942, and ending June 30, 1943.
<br /> Only one bid was received, which was from C. A. Horton. The Recorder opened and
<br />19 read this bid, which was for $480.00, work to be done monthly. A motion made by
<br /> , Farrington and seconded by Bond and carried tht the bid of Mr. Horton for the

<br /> At this time Mr. Barette reported regarding the complaint which had previousl
<br /> I been filed regarding the cutting of trees in the parking at 3rd and Lawrence.
<br /> ! lvIr. Be,rette stated that there had been no trees in the parking cut; t hat Mr. Hyland
<br />20 f had cut one tree but that it was on private property. Regarding the lumber in the
<br /> , street, Councilman Barette reported that this belonged to the government and it

<br /> i probably would be moved at an early date. The complaint regarding the conditions
<br /> at this location was ordered tabled.

<br /> I At this time Mayor Large stated that Engineer Clubb had prepared a map showin

<br /> I the property to be used when the new Ferry Street Bridge is builty by the County I
<br /> at the end of High Street. Mayor Large stated tht the ~ounty had already secured
<br /> options for the property on the East side of the river and that something should
<br /> be done at this time in regard to getting quotations on what the city wbuld have to
<br /> I pay on the property they would have to furnish. This property is described below.
<br /> "Beginning at a point 9 feet west and 224 feet north of the southwest
<br /> corner of block "B" of the original plat of Eugene City as the same
<br /> is platted and recorded at page 2 of Docket "Aft Lane County, Oregon

<br /> to the right whose radius is 532.85 feet to a point 167.48 feet
<br /> east and 331.14 feet north of the southwest corner of said Block "Bit;

<br /> ! River; thence northwesterly along the low water line of tee
<br /> I Willamette River 82.5 feet, more or less; thence south 45 40t west

<br /> I After some discussion by 1liE council, Engineer Clubb was i~structed to make an
<br /> , investigation as to the probable cost of this property and to report back at the
<br /> next Council meeting.
<br /> At this tinle Mr. Farrington asked if anything had everiEbeen done regarding
<br />22. one-way traffic in the alleys. Mr. Bond stated that he remembered about the
<br /> discussion regarding the alleys but nothing had ever been done about it.

<br /> At this time Mayor Large presented.a letter from the Oregon State Highway
<br /> Commission. The letter was ordered placed on file.
<br /> "I am enclosing for your information a mimeographed copy of an
<br /> order that has been 'made by the State Highway Commission, designating
<br />23 . particularly dangerous highway-railroad grade crossings, and requirin
<br /> all vehicular traffic to come to a complete stop before crossing
<br /> t the railroad tracks at such locations.

<br /> It was thought that you would be particularly interested in receiving I
<br /> I the information, because it concerns a railroad grade crossing in
<br /> your city."
