He stated <br />that since the first of the year he had removed the booths from his place of <br />business known as Dean's Place and that he had been able to get rid of about ten <br />undesirable ladies who had been freq~enting the place and that he hoped it would <br />be possible to weed out the few others as soon as they could be identified. He <br />said in regard to the selling of beer to a minor as had been reported by Mr. Dietz, <br />Juvenile Officer, that he did not ~<~now that beer had been sold to thisparty, and <br />that he hoped the Council would see fit to renew his license for this year. <br />Mr. Albert Dietz, Juvenile Officer, addressed the Council at this time and said <br />that he did not care to hsve the name of the minor who had bought and drank beer <br />in Dean's Place published, but he would state for the benefit of the Council that <br />, the boy was Darnell 13ennett, 17 years old, who is now in the Navy, ",nd that he had <br />stated he bought this beer from one of the girls in the place. Mr. Dietz also <br />stated that Christmas day there was quite a wild crowdat Mr. Dragoo's place and <br />4 I some fist fights occurred on the sidewalk in front of the place. He also stated <br />that he and Mr. Ramig, State Liquor Inspector, had explained to Mr. Dragoo what <br />the penalty WbS in regard to selling beer to minors. Councilman Hawn stated he <br />had the impression at this time that Mr. Dragoo had cleaned up the place and thought <br />! lie was trying to comPif with the law and would be able to have better regulations <br />I in the future and that he would move that the license be recommended for renewal <br />for the year 1943. This motion was seconded by Farrington and carried. The <br />matter of the renewal of the license for Nev;man's Grotto was brought up at this <br />time and Councilman :Pennington stated, that there had been no s,uspension by the State <br />Liquor Commission during the year 1942 on account of the sale of beer but that <br />the suspension made by the State Liquor Board was on account of a game violation <br />and the ,jgame was found in the icebox at Newman's place. Councilman Pennington <br />said he wished to move that the license be rec:Jmmended for renev,al for the year 194 <br />The motion was seconded by Koppe and carried. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br />i Applications for renewal of the 1943 beer license for Marshall's Cafe, 550 <br />5 lEast 13th Avenue and the White Palace at 47 East 10th Avenue ~ere presented at this <br />: time. On motion by Pennington, seconded, by Farrington, and carried it was moved <br />that these licenses be recommended for renewal. <br /> <br />Marvin L.
