Councilman Stevvart stated that Mr. Dow was a <br />i new man and that he felt that the request for the transfer should be referred <br />Ii to the Police Conunittee to re;,ort back at the next meeting. Councilman Brownson <br />f stated that Mr. Dow had talked to him, that Mr. Dow had operated a truck line for <br />II about ten years and was well known here. Chief Bergman was a sked if he knew any <br />II reason why this license should not be transferred to Mr. Dow and he ste ted he <br />I did not. A motion was made by Pennington and seconded by Hawn that this transfer <br />! be granted and the motion was carried, Counci.lman Stewart voting no. The Eugene <br />I Hotel had presented a request for a Service License to be used at the Eugene Hotel. <br />61""li. Mr. McClain, manager of the Eugene Hotel, was present and stated that a group of <br />, officers in the Armed Service had quarters in the Eugene Hotel and they had made <br />'1'.1 a request for this service license. Mr. IV;cClain explained that under the present <br />conditions they could not mix drinks and that the officers had to bring their <br />l own liquor in ant take it out again after the meal; the only thing the hotel could <br />~ do was furnish the mixers on the tables. He stated that this Service Club License <br />III,: would permit the liquor to be brought in by the officers, labled, and stored at <br />the hotel and that the hotel could mix the drinks for the officers. He stated <br />! this licenses probably would be used only about once a week. It ~as explained <br />I that this license was similar to the other service clubs now operating in Eugene. <br />A motion was made by Pennington and seconded by Stewart and carried that this <br />Service license be granted the Eugene Hotel. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />C') <br />'"~;, <br />':>~ <br />~1/ <br /> <br />The Judiciary Committee had no report. <br /> <br />The Finance Committee recolD.11j.ended,' that the offer of G.
