<br /> Mayor Large stated he wished to appoint Councilman Baker to the same comm-
<br /> 1 I! ittees that Mr. Brownson had, which would be chainman of the Health Committee,

<br /> I' third member of the Street Committee, and third member of the Police Committee.

<br /> I Mayor Large also stated he wished to appoint Councilman Farrington, Koppe,

<br /> 2 I, and Crumbaker as a committee to make a study of possible changes in the City
<br /> ~ government, this committee having been recommended to be appointed at the last
<br /> Council meeting.
<br /> I' A letter from M. A. Reid, general mamager of the Oregon Motor Stages was
<br /> I:
<br /> !: read. Mr. Raid was aSking that the company be allowed to make skip-stop arrange-
<br /> :3 I': ments on part of their bus runs. Mr. J. A. Storer, local manager of the bus lines
<br /> " was present and stated that they wished to try this out on the Fairmount Loop,
<br /> I: making every street a sto to 11th and Alder, and then stop at every other street
<br /> r from there to the end of the run. Mr. Storer explained it was impossible to get
<br /> ;[
<br /> , any new equipment at this time and repairs .were getting hard to get and that the
<br /> ,: skip-stop plan would save much wear and tear on the equipment and would allow them
<br /> II to make the round trip in 30 minutes. He also sta ted that later on they might wa It
<br /> to use the Skip-stop plan on some other runs, and that proper signs would be
<br /> ji placed Showing the corners where buses stopped. On motion made, seconded and
<br /> I. carried this request was granted for the duration of the war only.

<br /> I" Councilman Davis stated that 4th Street between Pearl and High would be

<br /> ,: Councilman Davis said it was the recommendation of the Street Committee that

<br /> 13 .il the alley between 21st and 22nd and Alder and Kincaid be left as it is for the

<br /> ,; Mr. Davis also reported that the Street-Department had the following equip-

<br /> " he wished to make a motion that this matter-be referred to the Street Committee

<br /> p with power to act. This motion was seconded by Barette and carried.

<br /> " Hawn and seconded by Koppe that the action of the Street Committee be confirmed.
