<br />Ii Reverend Francis Leipsig '.. requests premission to install a temporary metal
<br />; flue at the St. Mary'S School. It was the Board of Appeal's recommendation

<br />;: and that the flue stack be erected on the outside of the building. On motion

<br />i: Blatchly, Cushman, Florence, and Ada was r~ad. The council instructed the
<br />I' Recorder to pay Dr. Helterline out of the Emergency Fund $15.00 as expense
<br />27 i: for a trip to the Coast. Approval by the Public Roads Administration for
<br />i: permission for the City to--- purchase 40 tons of asphalt cement had been secured,
<br />i, and a motion was made by Davis and seconded by Hawn that the Recorder advertise

<br />I: A letter from the Associated Students of the University of Oregon asking
<br />!: for permission to place a banner across Willamette Street, in from of Miller's
<br />28 i' Store, for several entertainments to be held ,. at McArthur Court during the current
<br />I II' year; was read. A motion was made, seconded,' and carried that the Associated
<br />Ii Students be allowed to' erect these banners for whatever attractions they might
<br />:; have during the season.

<br />29 $ctivities, was read at this time. This matter was turned over to Engineer Clubb

<br />31 asking that School District No. 4 be allowed to take over the Playground '
<br />activities for the balance of this fiscal year, was read. On motion made,
<br />I seconded and carried the following resolution concerning this situation was

<br />,. BE. I'!' RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EUGENE, that it is the
<br />:! judgement and decision of the Common Council that there shall be turned over to
<br />:.' School District No. 4 all of the Council's money and equipment in the Play-
<br />i @round Fund and in the City Play Grounds \1pon the express agreement and under-
<br />:: standing with the School Board that the School Board shall assume all of the
<br />I, liabilities and administra tion of all of the funds and property of the Eugene
<br />; Play Grounds. and shall themselves take over the levying of funds for the Play
<br />1- " Grounds. and take over th. e entire administration of the Play Ground effort, and
<br />:, that the City shall make no. futher levy and have no further control nor admin-
<br />. ! tstration of the Play Grounds of. the Ci:ty.

<br />I; -, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that$chool District No:. 4 shall make at this time
<br />I: a defilnite commitment to the Comm'on Council, i,.p. cqnsideration of the Play Ground
<br />I: Fund and' Play Ground Administration being turned over to them that they will
<br />" take' over the entire support and administration of the Play Grounds of the '
<br />I City, and that the Common Council shall be absolved' of any further responsibil-
<br />I,: ity therefor.
