Mayor Large explained that originally <br /> 17 i the men were not put on so much for guards as to turn on the field lights <br /> II when a plane was to land. That the control light switch was at the old <br /> :! Coldren house a considerable distance from the Administration building, <br /> I which prevented the United AirLimes from operating the switch. He stated <br /> i! that the CAA had completed the wiring and that the control switch was <br /> ! now in the administration building, and in as much as the field was leased <br /> ,i to the Army he did not feel that it was necessa~y for the City to have the <br /> '. <br /> " expense of a guard. Mr. Sweet etplained that the Caa, the Weather Bureau, <br /> ,I the United Airlines, each has 5 employees at the airport and that their <br /> Ii monthly salaries were between $2200 and $2500, and he felt the city should <br /> I: <br /> Ii employ a guard. Councilman Farrington stated that he thought this was a <br /> good place for the city to spend $150.00 ~~r month. Councilman Hawn <br /> r: stated that his fi~st reaction was that this guard should be taken off but <br /> II <br /> I; that he felt the matter should be referred to a committee for investigation. <br /> I' A motion was made by Hawn and seconded by Davis that the matter be referred <br /> i'l to a committee to make an investigation. Councilman Farrington stated that <br /> I <br /> I'! he wished to make an ammendment to this motion that the guard should be <br /> 1'1 kept on until a report is made back to the Council.
