The letter stated that they had <br />corespondence from one or two parties regarding the purchase of this property <br />and were asking if the City would be interested in a strip of this property for <br />st(Ueet~purpose:s. Councilman Farrington reporting for the Finance Committee stated <br />that they had inspected this property and it was the Finance Committees recommedd- <br />ation that the City offer the Southern Pacific $100.00 for this tract as the City <br />might use part of it for street purposes. A motion was DIade by Farrington and <br />seconded by Hawn that the City offer the Southern Pacific $100.00 for this tract <br />of land. On vote the motion was carried. <br /> <br />Councilman Davis reporting for the street committee stated that Mr. <br />Sexsmith of the Oregon Electric stated that they had secured the lwnber and <br />would make repairs to the tracks west of Blair street. <br /> <br />Fire and Water COlnmittee - no report <br /> <br />Councilman Baker reporting for the Health' Department stated that Mr. <br />Dickey&s work on the Rat Control Project Was proving to be very satisfactory <br />and that a very good job is being done on this work. Councilman Baker also <br />reported that the tile on the roof of the Comfort station had been replaced. <br /> <br />Councilman Be.rette reporting for the Parks committee stated that the <br />committee had investigated regarding tLe sale of two buildings at the NYA camp, <br />that these two buildings were now being used by the Army Engineers and it was <br />the recommendation of the committee that these buildings not be sold at this <br />time. Councilmen Barette also stated that there was a request that the City <br />check on the equipment in the two NYA buildings back of the Butte given to the <br />City. H~ stated that he and the City Engiheer would have a check of the equip- <br />ment. Councilman Barette also br.ought up the question of regulating the parking <br />of automobiles on the parking strips between the curb and the sidewalk. He stated <br />that this was a frequent practise of the mot&rists and that he felt the ordinance <br />should be enforced. Councilman Hawn stated that he had talked the matter over <br />with the Chief of Police and that the Chief had indicated that no harm was being <br />done and that he did not see why strict enforcement of ~his ordinance should be <br />made. Councilman Baker stated that he felt that as long as the ordinance was in <br />effect that t~e provisions should be strictly enforced. If the practise should <br />be continued the ordinance should be changed. After some discussion a motion was <br />made by Barette and seconded by Baker that the ordinance prohibiting the parking <br />of vehicles on the parking strip should be strictly enforced. On roll call <br />Councilmen voting Aye: Koppe, Barette and Baker - voting No were Farrington, <br />Stewart, Hawn, Dgvis and Crumbaker.
