A motion was made by Farrington and seconded by Crwnbaker that these lots be sold to Miltonberger with the following restrictions: 1st - No unit to cost less than $4500.00 2nd - All houses must comform to the specifications of the City Building code, and to be built under the supervision of the City Building Inspector. 3rd - Wall which ultimately will be between house and garage to be of fire resistant construction. 4th - That stipulation in dded for lot 1 and 2, block 2, Pearl Additioh be made for an easement be retained in case Mnazon improvement is undertaken. '; , L : ,~ I I' 1:1 I: I,: f! i' " On vote this motion was carried. A letter from the Southenn Pacific Company regarding a tract of land at 25th and Onyx owned by the Company was read. The letter stated that they had corespondence from one or two parties regarding the purchase of this property and were asking if the City would be interested in a strip of this property for st(Ueet~purpose:s. Councilman Farrington reporting for the Finance Committee stated that they had inspected this property and it was the Finance Committees recommedd- ation that the City offer the Southern Pacific $100.00 for this tract as the City might use part of it for street purposes. A motion was DIade by Farrington and seconded by Hawn that the City offer the Southern Pacific $100.00 for this tract of land. On vote the motion was carried. Councilman Davis reporting for the street committee stated that Mr. Sexsmith of the Oregon Electric stated that they had secured the lwnber and would make repairs to the tracks west of Blair street. Fire and Water COlnmittee - no report Councilman Baker reporting for the Health' Department stated that Mr. Dickey&s work on the Rat Control Project Was proving to be very satisfactory and that a very good job is being done on this work. Councilman Baker also reported that the tile on the roof of the Comfort station had been replaced. Councilman Be.rette reporting for the Parks committee stated that the committee had investigated regarding tLe sale of two buildings at the NYA camp, that these two buildings were now being used by the Army Engineers and it was the recommendation of the committee that these buildings not be sold at this time. Councilmen Barette also stated that there was a request that the City check on the equipment in the two NYA buildings back of the Butte given to the City. H~ stated that he and the City Engiheer would have a check of the equip- ment. Councilman Barette also br.ought up the question of regulating the parking of automobiles on the parking strips between the curb and the sidewalk. He stated that this was a frequent practise of the mot&rists and that he felt the ordinance should be enforced. Councilman Hawn stated that he had talked the matter over with the Chief of Police and that the Chief had indicated that no harm was being done and that he did not see why strict enforcement of ~his ordinance should be made. Councilman Baker stated that he felt that as long as the ordinance was in effect that t~e provisions should be strictly enforced. If the practise should be continued the ordinance should be changed. After some discussion a motion was made by Barette and seconded by Baker that the ordinance prohibiting the parking of vehicles on the parking strip should be strictly enforced. On roll call Councilmen voting Aye: Koppe, Barette and Baker - voting No were Farrington, Stewart, Hawn, Dgvis and Crumbaker. The motion was declared lost.
