A Illotion was made by Hawn and seconded by Davis that the resignation be accepted and that the Council express tu IvIr. Baker their appreciation for the services rendered. Councilman Hawn stated that the resignation of Mr. Baker left a vacancy on the Council and in view of the heavy work to be done by the Council the vacancy should be filled. Councilman Hawn stated that he was recommending to Mayor Large the name of Charles Wiper as Councilman of the First ward to ta'ke the place of Councilman Baker. Mayor Large stated that he was glad to make the appointmept of Mr. Wiper as Councilman from the first ward. A motion was made by Stewart and seconded by Barette and carried that the appointment of Mr. Vaper as Counciilinlan from the first ward be confirmed, and the Recorder was instructed to notify Mr. Wiper of his appointment.
