P. Curtsinger, 257 Van Buren streets for a 50 <br />foot cut and a request from J. A. Morgan, 1692 Charnelton for a 12 foot cut, for <br />a fuel drive~ay were read and recomrnended by the City Engineer, W. C. Clubb. <br /> <br />A rooming house permit of Edward L. Temple, for the Hanpton Hotel, 60 <br />east 7th street was granted by the Council. <br /> <br />A request for a transfer of beer ,license at 860 Olive street, Snappy Service <br />No. 1 from Hulse and fucKay to Kenneth L. Hulse was approved by the Council. <br /> <br />A request from Pearl Forncrook asking that George K. Schmidt and Lawrence <br />Jorgensen he deputized as bouncers at the Wintergarden Dance Hall was read. A <br />motion was read by Councilman Hawn and seconded by Koppe and carried that the <br />request be denied. <br /> <br />A request from George Clark asking that Harry Nelson be appointed as special <br />Policeman while on Mr. Clarks property at 282 ~an Buren was reaQ. This matter was <br />referred to the Police Committee to report back. \ <br /> <br />A request from Arthur Warren, 2615 Columbia street asking the Council to <br />vacate 26th avenue east from Colu~mbia street a distance of 150 feet was read at <br />this time. This matter was referred to the street committee for investigation <br />and to report back at the next meetihg. <br /> <br />A letter from L. P. Curtsinger regarding a Sflven foot set-back on lot 7, <br />block 9, Sladdens 3rd Addition at the corner of 3rd and Van Buren was read at <br />this time. He stated that this set-back would prevent use of a seven foot strip <br />!60 feet long and asked that an investigation be lnade with a view of doing away <br />N with the seven foot set back in this locality. This matter was referred to the <br />ii Planning Commis s ion. <br />I' <br />li~ <br /> <br />A letter from C. E. McLean, Manager of' the Eugene Hotel asking for a ten <br />day extention in which to accept a franchise granted the Eugene Hotel under <br />ordinance # 8785 was read. A motion was read, seconded and carried that this <br />request be granted. <br /> <br />The following resolution was read at this time: <br /> <br />HESOLUTION <br /> <br />Be it resolved by the Common Council of the City of Eugene that the <br />hereto attached lease between the City of Eugene and the United <br />States of America, which lIas been presented by the United States of <br />Arnerica to the City for execution, shall be executed by the Mayor <br />and the City Recorder, and by the Recorder delivered to the Govern- <br />ment for the~r signature. <br /> <br />A motion '"was made, seconded and carried tha t this resolutioh be adopted. <br /> <br />An Ordinance accepting the report of the viewers on the proposed openrumg <br />of Filmore street from the south of 6th avenue west to 7th avenue west had its <br />first reading and was laid over. <br /> <br />The resignation of Carl R. Baker as Councilman frolll the 1st Ward was <br />read at this time.
