<br />A letter from H. M. Gunn, Superintendand of School District No. 4 stated
<br />that they had bought the Dr. Norton hanger on the old airport and asking permiss-
<br />ion to leave the hanger there for the dura.tion. On motion made, seconded and
<br />carried this request was granted.

<br />A letter had been addressed to the City Engineer from Corvallis regarding
<br />a 2 weeks school on Sewage Disposal problems. Engineer Clubb stated that this
<br />would be of considerable value to the City if someone would attend and a motion
<br />was mad.e by Davis and seconded by Hawn that the. City Engineer be granted permiss- ::~.;
<br />ion to attend this school. On vote the motion was carried.

<br />A report By Percy W. Br~wn regarding the audit for the months of October,
<br />November and December was read at this time. He called attention in this report
<br />to fire hazards of the Treasurer and Recorders office records. Also the large
<br />number of traffic ticketswhic,h are never collected in the Police Department,
<br />and the record of equipment of the City as carried on the general ledger. He
<br />explained that they had made a survey of the equipment but that it needed corr-
<br />ection in order to show the proper valua of present equipment. There were several
<br />typewri tten pages of the inventory a'ttached to the report. On motion made, second~d
<br />and carried this matter w~s referred to the City Manager.

<br />The Planning Commission by its secretary, S. M. Calkins, reported on the
<br />proposed zoning which the Council has passed the resolutions on January 8th. The
<br />following ~es&lliution was adopted:

<br />BE IT RESOLVED by th~ Common Council of the City of Eugene that there
<br />is hereby transmitted to the Planning Commission of the City of Eugene, a pro-
<br />posal to reclassify Block 1, Westmoreland Addition and Lots 1, 2, 3, 13, 14, 15,
<br />16, 17, and 18, and Block 7, Chambers A~di t,ion into a business district. .
<br />And directing the Planning Commission to adopt a Tentative Report, .an~ to
<br />hold a hearing thereon in the Council Chambers in the City Hall in the City of
<br />Eugene, on ~uesday the 30th day of January" 1945, at 7:30 o'clock p.m., after
<br />giving due notice by publication once in the Eugene Register Guard an.d t.hey shall
<br />thereafter make a final report and transmit the same to the Common Counpil with
<br />their recommendation.

<br />An Ordinance amending #8413, establishing all of the territory recently
<br />annexed to the City of Eugene which lies s~uth of 7th Avenue west, as a single
<br />family residence zone; and establishing ~ll of the area north of 7th Avenue west
<br />in. the annexed territory as light industrial zone, had its first reading and was

<br />WHEREAS, heretofore the Common Council has submitted to the Planning
<br />Commission the establishment of zones in the territory recently annexed to_ th~
<br />City of Eugene, as a single family residence zone south of 7th avenue West and
<br />as a light industrial zone north of 7th avenue west, and the Planninc Commission
<br />has held a heiring, adopted a tentative report, and converted the same into a
<br />permanent and final report and resubmitted ,it to the Common Council with ~he re-
<br />commendation that the same be enacted into an ordinance, and the Council has ~re-
<br />pared and given its first reading of an ordinance enacting said permanent report.
<br />Now, Therefore, the City Recorder be and he is hereby directed to prepare
<br />and cause to be published not less than three times in the Eugene Register Guard
<br />in Eugene, Oregon, a notice of a hearing to be held in th~ regular Council meet-
<br />ing on Monday, February 26, 1945 at 7:30 o'clock P.M. said notice to be published
<br />within the week commencing February 19, 1945.

<br />An Ordinance amending #8413, that all of the area north of 13th avenue west
<br />and east of Chambers Street now clawsified as single family residence is reclass- I
<br />ified as multiple family residence district so that the entire area is either mult-
<br />iple family residence district or some heavier classification; all multiple family I
<br />shall be subj ect to the sixty per cent area. lipli ta tion - was read the. first time
<br />and laid over. The following resolution was adopted by the Council; I
